networkn: Retentions just did me an awesome deal too. VF you ROCK!

So by matching the competition they rock? Really?

Elpie: That's really nice for you - well done!

We had two accounts on that plan and had the 1Gb data expiring on 20th June. When I called Vodafone the answer was an unequivocal NO with nothing being offered to keep us. So, two accounts moved to 2Degrees. Due to SMS issues, I regret the move but Vodafone wasn't interested in keeping me so be it.

Let me guess... You have ported your 021 number to 2degrees? Don't. The SMS/porting issue is rife! Get a shiny new 022 number and don't turn back :)

SMS problems don't affect everyone. I ported my 021 to 2Degrees ages ago and haven't had any problems sending or receiving txts to and from any country yet.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

+1

I had some initial problems in 2009, but they got it sorted pretty quickly.  2D's website has a good page which deals with this issue:

vinnieg: Good job! Always great to ring the providers, and get a few extra deals out of them

Is that on a no-contract plan? Or are you stuck for 12/24 months?

Still on no contract term :)

RamyElbeltagi:

I am with Vodafone's "Smart $45" plan and I get the following;

I'm out of contract with Vodafone and received a call from them wanting to "upgrade" me to this plan.  I said no thanks as far as I'm concerned that's not an upgrade for me.

On my current plan (Smart 1) I get:
60 mins talk time
2500 texts
1 best mate
3GB data
all for $40.85 per month.

What was interesting was this was the first time vodafone have ever got in contact with me rather than me contact them.  I get the feeling they want everyone off those original smart plans which are data friendly.

Yup! My partner is on a plan with 3GB, and they tried hard to get her off it.

It's a shame we can't get more data. I can live with no calling, and alot of data (I would just use nakedplus on my phone more :)  )

Spong: Are VF letting you share that 1GB of data with up to 5x other devices or family/friends yet?

Nope. Not that I know off.

I actually think it might be confidential, vaguely but essentially they did bigger than normal hardware subsidies on the phones I wanted if I signed up on a contract.

Yup, no contract basis.
pfft, contracts suck! Avoid them if you can (incase something better comes up)

Yes agree, hence the question. We have 11 connections on the $45 plan and was just looking at 2Deg $39 plan.

I have to say that I have had contracts with VF since BellSouth days, I've only been without contracts for 3 months in all that time, and VF have been awesome with switching plans for me over that time. I've never paid a ETF in all that time, but then loyalty works in both directions. It would take a fair amount to make me switch from VF, about the only thing would be if the reception was poor.

Yep. It’s called turning on wifi hotspot on your device.  And it is totally free!

Agreed about loyalty. I have been with Voda mobile for 10years now. Maybe that's why they offered this deal. (Good luck Kiwitrc with your 11connections).

On par with loyalty, I would say reception, speed, and customer service. Especially the latter. Big deal for me.

Not quite, those family and friends can be in a different part of the country.
