networkn: Hi,

I can see both sides of the story here. What is the difference in price between what VF can offer you on fixed BB + SureSignal and what Telecom are offering? Is the difference overall less than your termination fee's?

I know VF are currently reviewing their pricing on broadband offerings, though two plan increases (free) have already been announced. Perhaps you could wait a few more days and see if any of the plans they revise will be of interest to you, that way it might work out a win win for everyone concerned?

Thanks for the advice.. thats worth a look

remote or not no city / town / suburb from any carrier has 100% mobile coverage

johnr: Vodafone is not making it difficult you are only viewing it from your side of the fence, Others might think I am only viewing it from the Vodafone side of the fence.

As advised if you had signed a contract when living in that location of poor coverage then I would 100% agree with you, Contract should be cancelled and hardware returned but this is not the case

A cellsite 1km away does not mean coverage 360 degrees from that cell, The panels on it are either not pointing in your direction or there is something blocking the coverage from that cell reaching you,

Cick on my user name and PM me your mobile number and address and I will check Monday for any new planned coverage in the approx location, If not sorry I can add no further value but I will pass it onto someone in Vodafone you can speak to about Sure Signal and fixed line BB

VF cover far more than 50% of areas that Kiwi's work and play. Look at a coverage map.

I think you should follow the advice I gave you. Wait and see what VF release in the next little bit in terms of Broadband plans, then assess the difference between what VF have and what Telecom have by way of Broadband and work from there. You may find the situation resolves itself as a result of a relatively short wait. If it doesn't you can decide then what you want to do.

Going around in circles debating if VF should cover your area when they don't right now isn't productive, it won't solve your problem immediately.

How much is your early termination charge?

You just have to suck it up.

It is not Vodafone's problem that you moved to an area where they have no coverage - you could have checked it before you moved.

Pay the fee, or move house. Stop trying to get someone else to take the 'blame' for your problem. As others have said, no telco has coverage everywhere.

TBH, while I know it must be frustrating, it seems a few possible solutions have already been suggested:

1) Look at getting a sure signal device and VF broadband (no I don't think vodafone give them away unfortunately, but it's still a solution)

2) Live with the phone as is. I use mine mostly only for texts at home and for calls when out; you said you have a telecom landline so why not use that for calls while at home?

3) Pay the termination fee and move on...

How about a different handset? Does that make any difference to your signal? Do other Vodafone customers experience the same signal issues at your location?

There are very few houses in suburban areas which are completely devoid of signal. Sometimes you have to be creative, and leaving your phone in your pocket isn't creative. Work your way around your house leaving the phone standing against the glass of each window and work out where the strongest signal comes from. Then you will know where to stand the phone when you get home from work, and where to stand when you take calls. I've often found coverage at places where people say there is none. Also note that your hand is a great shield of radio waves, so of you give your phone the grip of death it will have reduced coverage.

Oh and by the way, corrugated iron cladding is also really poor for allowing signal inside a house. I've stayed in houses where the only way to satisfactorily use a cellphone was to stand the phone on the window sill and use a Bluetooth headset.
