Ledgy: Now for some reason under Telstraclear using TUC it's coming up with

- Error 12007 the server name or address could not be resolved

Anyone else getting this?

Yup, I'm getting this too.  I see that someone has reported it on the TUC forum, and the creator of TUC knows about this problem, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.  See http://www.tuc.co.nz/board/index.php?topic=185.0

I reported it and there is a beta download fix for it here. Murphy's law in action. You praise something and it breaks. However you can't stop TelstraClear or any other ISP changing the web page TUC looks at.

Edit: I see the latest version has been put on the main web page as TelstraClear mention in the next post so you can download it from there instead.

For those that use TUC, a new version is available at www.tuc.co.nz

Please note that TelstraClear does not endorse or support this or any software that is not supplied by us. I'm posting this as a service to alert those who use TUC.

Cheers, Gary

Shadbolt:
geek4me: I also use and like TUC. I monitor 2 different ISPs, TelstraClear and Woosh on my work PC. TC being my home network and Woosh for work. It shows the percentage used in the tool-bar along with the Service provider when using the /config= switch if you hover over either.

I have two Telstra accounts that I want to monitor with TUC. Up until now, I haven't understood the methodology of how to get them both monitored simultaneously, so I've been changing the login details on the GUI - which is a pain.
How do I configure it to display data for two accounts? (Step by step instructions, for a novice, please!)

Shadders

Hi Shadders

When using the latest version of TUC -

When you connect to an ISP like TelstraClear TUC makes a config file called TelstraClear.tucconfig or whatever ISP you connect to. My second ISP is Woosh so TUC makes a Woosh.tucconfig file. (It also makes one called tuc.tucconfig that is the last ISP you connected to - this can be renamed and used in a Shortcut.). In XP for example they are normally saved here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\TUC

Where in my case I set it up under the Administrator account.

To make it work you need to set up a Shortcut for each ISP. I have made two under the Windows Startup Directory, one called TUC - TelstraClear, the other TUC - Woosh

In the Properties - Target Box of the Shortcut for TelstraClear I have:

"C:\Program Files\Traffic Usage Checker\tuc.exe" /config=TelstraClear.tucconfig /closetotray

In the Properties - Target Box of the Shortcut for Woosh I have:

"C:\Program Files\Traffic Usage Checker\tuc.exe" /config=woosh.tucconfig /closetotray

the /closetotray switch stops TUC exiting if you close it with the [X] icon.

Hope this helps!

Edit: If you have two Telstra Accounts they will have the same name so either rename one and use the new name in its shortcut or put them in different directories.

Thanks for the info on how to run two TUC sessions at the same time, for two TCL accounts. It took me an hour - due to my inability to understand that "do not have permission to write to this file" means "do not have permission to write to this file".

But success! I now get the two sessions running simultaneously, when I boot.

I've been using TUC for years. Just install it on each PC.

Whatever update TCL did on Monday to the website, it also broke the iOS app called "Consume" that I use for checking usage. Will report to the devs, any hints I can pass on to help them?

Having just installed TUC to see what it was all about, I have to say I'm impressed, finally a tool that I can quickly glance at and find out how much of my account has been used up, all "without" having to sign into the website etc.

Maybe TCL should think about endorsing and supporting the developer for improving your customers  experience.

Hi,
I've contacted the programmer of NetUsageItem. He'll try to fix it so it will work again with Telstra.
I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
Paul
