freitasm: I was just told by vodafone:

The pricing is valid for new customers signing up to InHome from 1 April 2013, and terms and conditions do apply. However, we’re always happy to discuss options with existing customers, who can call our team on 0508 662 277.

Hmmm. Not that great now, is it?

It's from 1 April, we don't care about our existing customers who've been paying money for years. That's an April fools right?!

sbiddle: If you're in an existing contract I see this as fair and don't see why Vodafone would let you downgrade.

If you're out of contract however there should be no reasons why they don't get somebody move.

Not in a contract, and don't want one. Do you reckon I can just call up and get a cheaper price? Is the call centre for Vodafone as awesome as the TC one, or will they actually answer the phone?

Wondering if it would be more prudent to wait a few months, to see what (if any) kind of new caps Vodafone apply to the InHome plans.

Nothing more annoying than deciding to switch over to 150GB, to then have a 300GB+ promotion hit us in few months.

Does VF peer openly and freely at APE and WIX? So will we now see less tromboning of data through the US when you know the server is in Wellington?

I'm interested to hear the answer to this too.

It will be very interesting to see if peering is reintroduced.

I am not in a contract and never been for close to 13 years now. I hope they wouldn't make a condition of change to sign a term contract.

Have just spoken to 2 very helpful people, the first put me through to someone else but stayed onto introduce me to the next.

As a long standing customer out of contract, I can change to WarpSpeed and new plans without being locked in again. Also said they can do it immediately while we are still waiting to get new modem. Cheaper plan now I think is more important than faster internet.

Just called TelstraClear/Vodafone and I am unable to switch from 100GB to 150GB because I am under contract until 18th October 2013. Ugh!

Last October I was paying $105.95 per month for 60GB + Phone line and I called to see if there were any better deals. I was upgraded to the 100GB plan for $115.95 per month ($10 more, or a $30 discount off the usual price). Signed a one year contract then because that was the only way I could get even remotely comparable internet prices compared to the competition.

So now i'm effectively stuck on 100GB? I would rather pay the full price of $95.95 for 150GB plus the $40 on our current phone line, but it's no go unless I fork out $199 to break the contract. I find it quite perverse that they would turn away a customer who wants to pay more/upgrade plans to prices publicly advertised.

Legally yes I understand they are under no obligation to waive contract termination fees, but as far as first impressions of "Vodaclear" go, i'm basically looking at paying the termination fee and moving all of my services including TV over to Telecom where I can get 500GB at a lower price than 150GB.

jermsie: So the rep has arranged a cable WarpSpeed installation on the new pricing for next week. She did say the first bill may show the old pricing however.

What about the fact that you're an existing customer, did that matter?

I am looking at the bundles and the Phone, Broadband + TV bundle is about $20 less than I'm paying now per month and with double the data so I'd like to swap to that?

Also since we are existing customers are they trying to lock us back into a contract for the new modem? I want better pricing but having been a customer of Paradise since 1998 and TelstraClear since 2001 I think I don't want to be locked back into anything.

FWIW I've been told by someone who was an existing TC customer, they just got the common family plan ($82 + $3), it's the same price plan yeah, but they didn't get the 2 free months or the free modem which new customers got ....

For the OP, not sure if the TC had Sky included for that $155 figure, I tried to check TC but it just forwarded me to Voda's site.  You can now get $95 for 100GB + $30 for another 100GB (total of 200GB for $125). So maybe more aligned.

I could be totaly wrong but just my observation.  Basing on the common family plans.  Speed have of course gone up, over the decade no doubt, data allowances have gone up too, maybe a bit of that is that over the years data have become more affordable.  But if you ignore data sizes and just look at history of the different years, whether it's a entry plan, a common intermediate plan or a high users plan the figure cost have gone up in general.  The real cost is maybe been the same cost overall after you adjust for CPI, yes CPI is just 3% but in general it's remained about the same.  That can be a lack of competition I dunno.  5yrs ago, not a early adopter but I had ADSL1 for 2 or so years which I got 20GB for $65 that was a medium plan back then.  Then I got a $70 for 30GB for 1yr and now for 11 months I had the $75+$3 for 40GB.  These were maybe the better deals on a 12 month contract for modest family use.  There were of course more expensive ISPs I didn't go for.

Curious. I thought for Sky TV, there had to be a contractual term to sign up for it? (part of the on-sell agreement with Sky I understand?).

Do you know if the termination fee is staggered/reduced the longer into the contract you are?
Would be interesting to know.

I've noticed that other than Vodafone's Cable internet plans or the entry ADSL2+ ($75) you have to have a postpaid cellphone. ... or there is a $10 more per month for the internet.

Nope. I was told i'd have to pay $199 ...for the privilege of paying $20 a month more for a higher plan that is much cheaper everywhere else on the market. :(
