According to the SMS I got from Vodafone NZ when I first logged on over here, the cost is NZD$10 per MB. Given Iam only using it for email and a little browsing, it shouldnt be too bad.

Since Vodafone does not have a very large 3G footprint in Australia, make sure you lock it to the Vodafone network. If you have it in automatic and you start using Optus or Tesltra, you will be in for $30 per megabyte.

Even $10 per megabyte is an absurd amount of money, for the same network.

Yeah mate, I always have it on manual (just in case), like my cellphone which tried to switch to Telstra when left on automatic. You are right about footprint too as am now on Mornington Peninsular and no 3G coverage... had to revert to (ugh) dialup!
