Gooseybhai: strikingly similar to the jetstar page !

oh people need to check out the haters on the stuff.co.nz comments sections of articles.

I would not trust any of the comments on Stuff!, they actually used my stuff account to post some negative stuff on an article and compleatly ignored me when I emailed and Facebooked them about it, nothing but a corrupt bunch of prats out for their share of the consumer market. To this day I still have had no reply from them about it which furthers my feelings that they are nothing but a bunch of loosers out to deceive us...

Wait a minute. Are you saying Stuff staff (oh dear pun) actually used a user account to post a comment?

Turns out they had a issue with their site where people were able to post comments under others user names, they are quite adament there was no account compromises though. Shame it took 5 weeks for them to get back to me about it ..

But anyway this is getting quite OT...

I feel bad for most companies, as most have to deal with Stupid on a regular basis.

whilst the guy in the OP is clearly full of dumbness, I do feel the VF 'supernet' thing is quite confusing for customers given VF don't actually have Fibre UFB OR VDSL plans out yet.

same with telecoms "Ultra Broadband", thats just going to confuse people IMO.  I wasn't even sure what it was.  Lots of people think ADSL is UFB...

Sure, Supernet is confusing. Telling people in Auckland there's a "ultra fast broadband" that is actually the HFC network only available in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch doesn't help. Just marketing speak.

But the number of people who get worked up to defend one company or another, or even worse, actually attack a company because they prefer another, or even because they have wrong information provided by a competitor. Dumb...

Im a seasoned at Marketing speak.... however....
Last night I was on the couch with the Mrs, saw the supernet advert for the second time towards the end of the commercial... after its blah blah speak (the first time I ignored it because it was all too much of the same old same old from VF). I then jumped off the couch in excitment to go and look at the VF website as I thought 'wow finally UFB plans are being offered'.  I got my hopes up and dashed/smashed in under 30seconds.  Wasted my time.

Im not bashing but I get the feeling VF is taking the same advice SKYTV get from their advertising bureus.... i.e. 'market to the newbies' and dont worry about your present customers...
Just my thoughts.

VF rocks otherwise.....  my hair is going greyer by the day as I wait for UFB plans !

Ah yes, Facebook... 'Abandon hope, all ye who enter'

In all seriousness though, often times customers on our page are upset because something else has gone wrong with their day and we just happened to pop up in their feed unannounced, which makes us an ideal target. You can't work in Social Media without skin at least a couple of inches thick :) And despite the occasional troll my work is exponentially cooler than a large number of professions I can think of!

ETA: About SuperNet UFB - It may be confusing for some people who automatically associate ultrafast broadband with Chorus' UFB network. Technically speaking, 4G offers UFB broadband connectivity. We really do appreciate everyone's patience while we work out the last few details of our remaining UFB offerings. I promise, they will be available before you know it!

Well, I feel for Telecom as well. This is one video of a series some guy is posting to them on Twitter:

Watch the entire video. It's worth it. And it crashes Telecom's network apparently.

Kind of the fault of the industry itself for claiming that HSPA+ is 4G...

No Nz Telco has ever claimed that AFAIK

And technically HSPA+ is 4G according to the ITU, who decide the standards

Hey now, you've already used that on Twitter :)

Facebook takes balls of steel to manage at times to put it frankly, Twitter can sometimes end up like that but it's actually easier to control. Troll those who troll you (in a way that shows you're not trolling) and take the haters and turn them into lovers or let them leave (which sometimes, is best) as well as helping legitimate customers showing you care whilst not being bias since Customers expect you to be and it shocks them when they see us mention Vodafone wireless RBI for example then we gain all the respect.

All part of the fun I guess, and an art to master. I also need caffeine and/or lunch since I don't even know if that made any sense.

I did wonder if perhaps what the Telecom rep was trying to explain to that person was along the lines of HSPA+ being called '4G' in some places. In the US, HSPA+ is considered '4G' (Ie. T-Mobile new '4G HSPA+' network).

I think that person has probably misunderstood some stuff, or things have got lost in translation between the Telecom rep and the customer.

But in my own experience, Telecom '3G' has almost always been far better than Vodafone '3G'. Even at Christmas last year when I was back in NZ, we had one of our phones on Telecom and one on Vodafone, and the Vodafone had so many coverage and 3G speed issues while the Telecom was rock solid and always fast.
