richms: Ask if you can move them to telecom even tho you dont have a handset, they may be able to just set it up without an esn - not sure how their systems work, then leave it on prepay and when you get back go and buy a couple of cheap phones at a telecom store and get your numbers put on them and change to a plan.

While theoretically possible, the answer remains no.

Yea, to be able to park a number would be good. Especially when you have had it since the Bell south days.

One thing that I can't believe about Vodafone's Super prepay, is that after 3 months with out top up, your account is cancelled. This means that I can't just top up my phone with $100 and wait until it is all run out (doesn't take over 5 months at the most). I don't know why they would do this. It just seems stupid. If the reason is that they want you to spend another $30 on a simcard, then that is really greedy of them.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

One thing that I can't believe about Vodafone's Super prepay, is that after 3 months with out top up, your account is cancelled.

You could always port it over to Telecom Prepaid, and keep that number alive for a year or so without having to top up. I guess you could port it back but there are a few things to worry about, like Vodafones list of number portability unfriendly services.

Ideally, a service provider should provide parking services for their customers as you can do that with prepaid without consequence... and while some apologists may attack me for saying this - when you go on a monthly plan or contract, you expect more service and options... not less.

Secondly.... the credit lasts for 3 months without topping up, if you don't top up for a year - then the account is cancelled.
Please refer to the vodafone supa prepaid terms and conditions for clarification:

Prepay balance must be topped up at least once every 90 days or all Prepay balance will expire.
Customer's connection remains active for 365 days from the last Prepay balance top up.

You can still revert to motormouth prepay which has the 1 year expiry's.
