rokki: Hi TimA what do we have to do to get the Vodafone TV with Sky, wait for the website to say call now or can we prebook ?
kharris:TimA:Jas777: To further confuse the situation. If SKY has access to a channel that is in HD but they only show in SD National Geographic for example will Vodafone show it in HD? Or is it more likely there is both a SD and HD feed and they purchase just SD so Vodafone can only show in SD?
If NatGeo delivers to us in HD we deliver to you in HD no extra cost.
Like Mike said there is no compression of content on UFB.
Cheers
Except that NatGeo doesn't deliver to you in HD because your content provider is still sky.
My question is... I am in a cable area that is also supported by fibre. Will VF swap me to fibre for my current cable services. The answer in the past would have been no.

You can give us a call or get a call back, Vodafone TV is for UFB. (this is what this thread is relating to) www.chorus.co.nz/maps

SKY may be receiving in HD but transmitting over their satellite service compressed to save bandwidth.
I would safely bet that NatGeo is one of the channels that is in full HD.

Asked in a few threads now but the UFB lists Chch and Chch is Enable for UFB. Does the new Fibre plans include Enable areas?
TimA: There was a list floating around on the internet of the ISP's and what towns/cities they operated in, I am not sure about Vodafone having UFB in wellington. We have Whangarei, Auckland, Dunedin from what i recall. (I am not referring to cable under UFB, Chorus/Northpower/Enable/Waikato Fibre i am referring to)

UFB will be HD ticket included.
The HD channels will be the same ones that are currently being transmitted in HD on cable.
For a list please refer too.... HD identified by the HD after the name.

NatGeo will remain SD as SKY receive it as SD.

Hi Damian,
Can I ask where you got this information from??
The VF rep seems to think you will get additional HD channels under UFB.
Cheers
Kirk.

As per the usual std disclaimer.. "All thoughts typed here are my own."
ZollyMonsta:
There is no additional HD channels on UFB.
You get HD 'as standard' for Sky Sports, ESPN and Sky Movie Channels. (ie: the 'HD Ticket' comes automagically with the TV subscription on UFB).
You will require a valid Sky Sport or Sky Movie Package subscription to see those channels.
HD Pay Per View movie channels are available to all UFB TV subscribers, purchase is required to view ($6.95 SD and $7.95 HD) and there's a 24 hour viewing period for purchased movie titles.
Cheers,
Grant
