NikT: Hey folks,

I've just been advised that Gamers' Choice is now live for existing customers through My Vodafone & the Customer Zone. Showing up fine for me through Customer Zone, so go hard. :)

Would be well keen myself if I still had a 360.

Regarding the contracts - It is a new twelve months from the day the offer is signed up for if you're not currently on a contract term, or an additional twelve months on top of an existing contract term.

 - Nik

So the 12 month term my parents just signed up for last week, which doesn't start till monday won't count? ffs

Did they receive a promotion of some kind with that term? A month free or a wireless modem or similar?

No I don't believe so, they just changed from one of the old telstraclear plans to the play plan. I think they are getting a $50 credit but this is has something to do with linking their sky account up with you guys.

Correct, just called them as I started a new 12 month contract a week ago and have to sign up for another 12 if I want it, also this now:

"Oops! We've temporarily run out of codes, we're very sorry about this. We'll aim to have more available within 48 hours so please check back then."

I think I'll pass now anyway, silly Vodafone.

Happy to take a look for you if you're a contact on their account.

Fixed line contract terms do generally come with a promotional perk.

Well, technically no, but I'd imagine they trust you not to do anything silly with the account if you've got the credentials necessary to add yourself, so I'll roll with it. ;)

Flick me a DM with the account number & I'll find out what they signed up for.

Hmmm - wonder if the email to those who registered their interest will come through... :)

So to confirm, I upgraded to a new plan in November and had to take a 12 month term so that would take me through to November 2014. So if I sign up to get the gamer's choice thing that would extend out to November 2015? (Wouldn't mind so much but there was no real option to no take the 12 month term so it'd be good for it to be included in the 12 month term if within x months of signing up)

And BTW the legal link on the PS Plus "confirmation" page is set to http://vodafone.co.nz/legal/terms_conditions rather than http://vodafone.co.nz/legal/terms-conditions so does that mean the T&Cs don't apply as you only get a 404 page? ;)

(Why its not linked to go straight to http://www.vodafone.co.nz/legal/terms-conditions/gamers-choice/ I'm not sure!)

Nik, What do those of us who aren't console gamers get if we sign up? PS plus is pretty useless for PC gamers.

Yep, I signed up for a new 12 months a few days ago and have been told this will become 24 months total to get the gamer choice promo. Now the subscriptions are around $80 for PS plus and Xbox live and it costs about $180 to get out of your Vodafone contract, which is like two years subscription is the way I view it.

Would be good to see Vodafone grant an exemption for customers who have upgraded between the 21 November and now since I assume the 12 month term from "today" would include Gamers Choice. (Although perhaps I'm wrong with that)

A Christmas gift for friends who use Xbox Live or PSN. I'm a PC gamer myself. :)

I'm looking into it, but generally you sign up for what you sign up for - promotions come & go all the time, this is just one with a different kind of tangible value than one month free, et cetera.

hmmm its starting to look less likely I will be staying with Vodafone when it comes to renew next month. Honestly just nothing on offer worth keeping me and my money here tbh.

Yup totally agree with that - except for the fact that I don't think I got anything "free" for being made to sign up to a 12 month term when I upgraded to the new UFB 50 Plan which I guess is where the question arises.

I agree that if you get something of tangible value then you should be signed up to a term but if you are just getting the service as is then I don't think a term should be applied. (Of course I'm willing to be proved wrong and told that I did in fact get something extra as part of signing up to the UFB 50 plan :) )
