Just been thinking that even if I can get their account details and Tim is able find out exactly what happened, there's going to be nothing that he can do about it is there?
Or can people just be disconnected so that a customer on the waiting list can be connected?
Those people wouldn't be very happy then!

I did have that thought that perhaps that's what happened to my client, someone else in their area jumped up and down and demanded to be connected (or perhaps had a contact high up with the power to make it happen) and chorus were told to just pick an existing live connection at random and disconnect it.
Could something like that happen?

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Connections are not disconnected for the purpose of reconnecting another, But as soon as one person disconnects the equipment is repurposed very quickly for the next user.

Anything triggering a disconnection on the business account could cause this ranging from a business manager/I.T Guy going "Hey, Whats this connection here, We dont want this" all the way to not paying the bill until such point service is disconnected.

Vodafone allow a customer to use their PPP details from any Vodafone DSL connection rather than being linked only to the CVID which some other ISPs do. This would mean they could have easily been using their office PPP details at another location which had a Vodafone DSL connection provisioned.

Definitely not.

I would suspect in this case there is very little they could do to be reconnected if the port has been reallocated. I guess we'll just need to wait to see exactly why that line was disconnected. Have you actually seen a bill with the DSL connection on it? Is it possible they've never been paying for that DSL and that this was picked up by VF and been disconnected?

As distressing as this sounds (and I hope it isn't true here), it is possible. Every now and again, we come across an ASID that we're being billed for from Chorus but doesn't't appear to have an active customer account on our end. They get disconnected pretty quick-smart.

I think until we can look into this account and trace whats happened its fun speculating and getting ideas about it but wont help it get reconnected or diagnose what had happened. @CYaBro let us know when you get the info and will do our best to figure it out.

Cheers

Well I can now tell you what happened! :D

Unfortunately I can't say that it was some big conspiracy or anything like that.

Someone else at the office was making changes with the business Vodafone accounts and they told Vodafone to disconnect a couple of connections, thinking that they weren't required any more, and the owners house connection happened to be one of them!

They have been on the phone to Vodafone again this morning and Vodafone managed to find some notes on the account with all the information and who authorised it all.

I wouldn't like to be in that staff members shoes today!

Thanks to the everyone for their input and offers of help.
Unfortunately it won't get the owner's connection going again, due to the waiting list, but Uber are on the case now.
