Buy a phone locally? Don't

The newzealand "VodafoneLIVE" customised software they force into every locally sold phone always crashes.
The stores have shocking customer services befpre and after sales, wait till something goes wrong especially, there are excepetions to the general rule but beware.
The stores almost never offer refunds, even after I took two phaulty phones back.
The phones is stock are always 6 months behind the world launch and local prices are the highest in the world and remain that way even 2 years after the phone is discontinued anywhere else in the world (Razr v3 and V3X for example)
The repair agent is known for it's very slow repair turn-around and saying eveyrything is "liquid damage", 3 weeks+ return is common, just scour these forums for more..

I have a $500 voucher to use at Vodafone store, I bluntly refuse to buy a branded pile of #$%#$%

I bought a Chinese N95 instead without the voucher, it's superb...

I'd like to appologise for my error in thinking it was a Vodafone shop at Westgate, it is in fact a First Mobile branch.

So I take it back about Vodafone shops, I would still stay away from First Mobile Westgate.

Next time I'll try a Vodafone shop.

Cheers
Andy

Over the years I've found the service from Vodafone owned stores to be good on most occasions I've dealt with them. I've only had pretty average service from (the old) Mobile Fone Solutions and First Mobile.

The Vodafone store in the Johnsonville Mall is good at delivering sub-par service (as posted by myself and others here before).  Still, I can't use my experiences there to define my view of the remaining stores.

when it comes to smart devices, I have always found the vodafone store in johnsonville absolutely fantastic - however this is comparitive, as I would usually be going to the Jville Tcom store first.

and I've never had good customer service from telecom.

OTOH I had bad experiences with the Vodafone store at J'ville - and posted here before. I walked away across to the Telecom store where I bought what I needed in less time than the Vodafone guys made me wait.

The j-ville mall Vodafone has screwed me over before.. I would suggest avoiding them if you can help it.
Note this was some time ago so thing *may* have changed.

Quote from my other post: there are excepetions to the general rule but beware.

Vodafone Sylviapark were very patient with me while I tried every feature on just about every phone only to find they all still were locked up bricks.

Loismustdye: Have you thought about placing feedback about theis issue with either the vodafone store itself or on their website.

Good point, its all well and good too moan and generate consumer pressure for better service, but actually giving feedback is worthwhile (and often results in being granted concessions, if you want to be completely cynical about it). I gave feedback via my vbox to Vodafone in respect of my experience in their stores.
