Hrmm, still a challenge, when I reboot the router and establish a new ADSL link I can get nice speeds downloading (9-10 Mbps) for about 5 minutes and then it just hauls right back to less than 1 Mbps.

It was fine prior to 6pm, so I'm going to hazard that this is more a network congestion issue when using FTP during peak times.

Will keep monitoring over the next few days.

The issue is nothing to do with network congestion. It's purely a wiring related issue.

You can't get a faster speed than your sync, so if that's only syncing at ~2Mbps you can't get faster than this.

Eh? I'm synced at 14 Mbps and have been since it was fixed...

However when I download via FTP I get up to max speed for about 5 minutes then it drops off to 1 Mbps and has been like this since 6pm (prior to 6pm after the fix was made I was sustaining 10-12 Mbps.)

Try speed tests or downloads from NZ sites in the first instance..

NL, imma punt and say a certain seeding machine.

depending on the provider, could indicate you to congestion..

dont expect your international speeds to always max out to distance servers, without tuning the stacks, a controlled path, things will never be static.

Ok this is starting to piss me off, it was functioning perfectly and from 6pm it has gone to the dogs.

The tech has been out and fixed the wiring and performance improved out of sight. Appreciate the weather is rubbish here, how much would that play into the equation (overhead lines.)

Sure, I understand the concept of however prior to moving to this property (previous one was 200 metres down the road and with Telecom) I never had an issue.

Yup, waiting for someone at Vodafone to answer the phone because there has to be something bigger at play.

They were done over wifi (I don't own a network cable) and when everything was fine (prior to 6pm) I had good speeds.

while international capacity could be a thing, i haven't been on a vodafone connection in a long time, so cant comment there.

it would seem, the tech may not have quite actually fixed things.

Are you using line filters? The issue is not ISP related but wiring at the Attenuation is back up again
