NonprayingMantis:
Telstraclear used to do it all the time too - $75 for 40GB was the headline, but what it actually meant was you piad $75 for the plan with no data, but got the 40GB add-on for free for 12 months, then started paying $40 on top of the $75 plan for it at the end of 12 months.  ouch!

I'm on one of those Telstraclear plans, was a temporary shock when the promo period ran out, but a quick call to VF, and reversed the $40 data charge, and re-instated me on the original $75.00 phone + 40gig "plan".

Can't change ISP's either, as only VF has the Femtocell / SureSignal box.

So today the Vodafone sales rep called and gave me the whole how many people use you internet and what do you use it for etc etc, gave him the details as I know he was only going to try and upsell me, in the end he said they would offer me the $55.95 plan for another 12 months, I said ok no terms or contracts, he said yes you would have to sign up for 12 months, I was not very happy with this so insisted that I did not want to be stuck into a fixed contract,so he put me on hold and after 5 minutes or so and came back and said I could have it for another 12 months for $55.95 without having to sign a contract. So all in all OK I guess but it just pays to keep an eye on your bills as I would imagine there would be alot of people out there who will not pick up on this.

It's disappointing to see users still having to go through the same crap when dealing with ISP sales teams. I was a happy TelstraClear customer for several years, when Vodafone took over and released the $55.95 60GB plan it was great to see improved offerings in regards to pricing/cap, but since that time I've just seen plans get worse (for my situation, and many others), fee added to pay online by credit card, and now trying to push people off the one redeeming offering they have had since the takeover by bumping up their pricing without notifying the user and arguing that it was only for a 12 month period, when it pretty clearly wasn't.

Wouldn't these surprise pricing changes be solved by Vodafone (and others) putting a contract (or promotion) end date on your bill for the last three months before it ends. They could also show the new pricing you will be charged after that date so one can know when the price will change?

For some maybe and VF invoice regularly do this sort of thing. There is a little section at the bottom of the invoices dedicated to these sort of communications. You are still however expecting people to pay attention to the details beyond reading the amount due on an invoice.

I mean look at the OP in this topic. A notice on his invoice would not have sold this problem.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Similar here.  Was rung by a sales person ~18 months ago offering a cheaper rate for our phone + 60GB broadband (~$115 down to ~$82 pm).  Identical service but cheaper.  "Did I want to accept the offer?"  Well of course, thinking at the time it seemed odd they would need my permission to decrease what they billed me for the same package.  The reduction in price was nice but did not seem odd - was in line with the general trend of increasing caps / reducing prices, especially as TCL were becoming uncompetitive relative to most ISP's.

About 7 months later I started enquiring about VDSL and discovered that after many years with TCL / Vodafone I was somehow still under contract for the next 5 months.  Ultimately the penny dropped.  A bit annoyed but set that aside as I was generally happy with the service and cost.

The 5 months further down the track (~Nov 13)  the cost suddenly reverted back to the old rate (so much for the general trend of increasing caps / reducing prices).  Now back to exactly where I was 18 months ago.  $114.99 for phone and 60GB broadband is expensive in the current environment.  Have no need for more data, but the price must be very near the high end.

Have to admit I am now a bit hazy on some details of the call - a 12 month contract may have been mentioned but I do not recall it.  I do clearly remember being quite puzzled they needed to ask me, which would not have been so if I understood I would be back on contract.  And I am quite certain there was no mention that the reduced price would only last 12 months.  Again, there would have been no puzzlement - going back on contract for a temporary price reduction would have been a much more debatable proposition.

Hey that's the deal that I'm on at the moment!  I set it up about 14 months ago and as far as I know I'm still on it, I'll have to check the latest bill.  I remember the agent telling me that I had to commit to a year to get that deal, which I did.

I wonder if it's worth my time to ring up and see if they'll do anything else for me, as 40GB isn't all that much these days and I'm finding it harder to keep within the limit.

Can ex-TelestraClear customers use Vodafone deals or are we still stuck on the old platform?  I vaguely remember someone mentioning this a while back.

At work Vodafone rang us a few weeks back and told us they wanted to upgrade us from an 80GB plan to 150GB for no increase in price, which of course we agreed to.

I checked my latest invoice, received yesterday and there was no change in pricing for me. I assume this is because when I switched to the 130GB plan I made a point of confirming no term plan was being entered into.

Hi MurrayM,

Definitely worth having a word with the sales team. The new Red Home packages are available across both sides of the business (That's what they were built for), and run up to 500GB. :)

How flexible is the VF sales team?

I've done some price comparisons and I like the look of the "Share" plan (80GB internet + home line for $85 / month) but I've just seen that I can get the same thing from Slingshot for $79 / month (and they'll throw in a free modem and free MEGA 500GB Account since I would be a new customer to them).  Can VF match or better that or are they limited to only offer the bundles and pricing on the VF website?  I'm not really interested in VDSL at the moment because my modem can't handle it.

Feel free to PM me if you want.

You can shave $10/month off of that plan if you have an on-account mobile. It also offers 5 Bestmates and a MySky discount (If you have Sky).

Give the team a bell on 0508 888 800. Worst thing they can say is no. :)

I don't have an on-account mobile, just a VF prepay.  And I don't have Sky.  So that's of no use to me.  But I'll give them a call and see what they say.
