ReaperZ: yay go tcl !!!!!!! a move in the right direction

have upgraded from 10gb to 20gb plan last night, look forward to the increase when I get home, was contacted on my cellphone this morning to say it was actioned!

Has the problem with your service been sorted out then, so you could move to the faster plan, or is W31 still problematic?

node is 'possibly' problematic, although it may also be fixed, its being monitored they think it is fixed however - i havent been home a lot to notice

things keep getting worse and worse however !!!!!!

my connection speed is under 1mbit !!! through speeds via speedtest, nzdsl speedtest, international download servers, ftp from other cable users in NZ, etc etc .. cannot achieve over a constant 70-80k/sec, PEAKS at 100k/sec for maybe 2seconds then drops back to 70-80

completely unacceptable

called TCL's helpdesk, spoke to someone there .. he had no idea so i asked to talk to his supervisor etc, he put me through to an answerphone :( every time ive left a message on one of these supervisor voicemails NO ONE ever calls me back

so now what TelstraClear ????? what a complete joke .. im sure even ADSL can outperform my connection, which is pathetic considering im on '10' mbit.. maybe they left off a 0 at the end

spoke to someone else at TCL who advised me to wait for a few days, test it various times throughout the day, and get back to them with the results with speedtest.net's outcome.

COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED, i was achieving 4mbit on my old plan.. upgrade and get less than 1 ? .. hrmm

i advise no-one changes from 10gb to 20gb plan. i will be cancelling my account at the end of the month

have been contacted by TCL, was told they will get a technician back out TODAY,

so i have to take today off work .. damn this is all just turning to custard, so far i have easily lost $100 due to their muckups

they are crediting me $50 for the half day in which they came to setup a second modem this morning .. but the rest of the day now i have to wait around for their technician to turn up - no estimated time was given - was just told 'the technician will be in contact with you TODAY' i was guaranteed today by them.

technician has come and gone ..

showed me that it DOES have a 10mbit connection to telstraclear - cool !

however, past telstraclear i cant seem to get any faster speeds than 60-80k average, 100k max

that is via ftp, http sources (both through firefox), also ftp through a download manager and ftp client (from multiple sources around the world, including 10mbit upload swedish people and similar in korea), and IRC, even new zealand cable users P2P who have 2 mbit up cant seem to break this so called 1mbit limit i seem to have past TCL's servers

TelstraClear can u shed any light on why the 10mbit plan would cause me to have these speeds, yet on the 4mbit plan i was able to achieve 400-500k from most places ?

this is without a router, direct to PC via ethernet, tried on several pc's

I haven't had a read of the whole thread but I doubt it's Telstraclear for various reasons in that Node. Did the Technician swap the cable modem while he was there? that's generally all they do. Try a friends Cable Modem at your house. Try download something from a server thats close. And get back to me if you like. Feel free to Email.

node seems to be working fine

if it was the nodes fault .. then how come i could achieve 4mbit on 4mbit plan, but 10mbit seems to be 1mbit (outside of TCL network) but 10mbit inside tcl network.. except cable user transfers

ive tried downloading off local servers as well - same result

You gotta remember also.. That nice big fat cable you share that runs down your street is shared with your neighbours and other people in the area.  The speeds offered are 'up to' 10mbps so you will always see variance.. sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
I get the same myself (and I'm on the 80g plan)  sometimes as much at 9mpbs, sometimes only 4mbps.

Cheers,
ZollyMonsta
