I have a MacBook Air 2012. That along with our Ipads and IPhones seem to generally be around the 25 to 35 Mbps range with the VF supplied router. Still, we are pretty darn happy overall.

Try a late model higher spec laptop and watch it get WiFi speeds at line sync.

What we need is a router that can automatically change channel so that you get the best performance, it could be done only when no one is using the wifi. I imagine this product already exists.

thats what causes me problems with my speeds, all these people with preconfigured routers from their isps, with their channel on auto. it moves around as they reboot.

I never considered that, I was thinking of it more as if one person had it and no one else did.

nope, hops between 1 and 6 regularly around here.

10+ is consonantly killed with video 2.4ghz transmission..

Maybe consider using it.
