TimA:
dejadeadnz: Danielmac: I am pretty jealous of that Wifi speed. Have bragged about my line speed before (fastest I've had on the speedtest via Ethernet cable is 64 Mb/s down) but I've never managed anywhere near your Wifi speeds :(

You need pretty high spec WiFi card to get anything better than 30-40Mbp/s
Macbook pro 2014 vs Samsung S4 WiFi speeds vary a lot. Max line sync vs >20Mbp/s

I have a MacBook Air 2012. That along with our Ipads and IPhones seem to generally be around the 25 to 35 Mbps range with the VF supplied router. Still, we are pretty darn happy overall.

Try a late model higher spec laptop and watch it get WiFi speeds at line sync.

hio77: over wifi, my line generally maxes out, over 20mhz at that!

be it, there is the occasional day that every other wireless AP in the area moves to my channel and speeds take a dive, but then thats time to just hop channels.

What we need is a router that can automatically change channel so that you get the best performance, it could be done only when no one is using the wifi. I imagine this product already exists.

no no no.

not at all.

thats what causes me problems with my speeds, all these people with preconfigured routers from their isps, with their channel on auto. it moves around as they reboot.

I never considered that, I was thinking of it more as if one person had it and no one else did.

There is this almighty superior technology called Ethernet.
Maybe consider using it.

Features:
Not interfered with by neighboring WiFi networks.
Up to 100M maximum over Cat 5.
99% stability
99% throughput attained.
Doesnt give innocent plants in schools cancer Such Cancer from WiFi

Drawbacks:
It has a physical presence.
Not good for being mobile.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

People who care about Speed.
I might get in trouble from VF for saying so but they are releasing a Wired 4G variant soon!
