On a side note, if you'd like to find out your own credit score through Veda you can do so for free on their website. Takes about three weeks but it's always good to know if you do plan on applying for things that require credit checks :)

You certainly wouldn't get declined for not having any prior credit history, they just might need photo ID and proof of address. :)

Well I was declined lol.

But I can get the $69 plan.

Anyone know any really good phone for $0 upfront on that plan?

Bummer, sorry to hear that. Just wondering about monthly device payment as an option? The Sony Xperia Z2 is available for $39 a month through that method. You'll need to sign up to the $39, $59 or Red Essentials open term plan, then the monthly device payment is on top of that and split over 24 months (with I think approx $79 or so up front).

That's only available in specific stores listed on our site here, (click the "View available stores list" drop down just above the title "What phones can I get?")

Also - if you happen to go into the Invercargill store to sign up tell them thanks for the info when I phoned through to confirm these details earlier! :)

Yeah thank you for that I hadn't seen that on the site.

I just applied for a $69 plan online and a Vodafone smart 4 power.

Not the best phone and specs say its pretty bad for that price but I just wanted the plan more than anything for me.

Off topic, but the Smart 4 power is actually a pretty amazing phone for the price. Have a read of Nik's review :) http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Android-phones/The-Vodafone-Smart-4-power-review/m-p/134223#M3970

I couldn't find a review that wasn't British or in a language I could understand. :P

But thank you, the phone is decent and I just wanted a phone with a big screen. (kinda wish it was better though.) :P I'm currently using a Lumia 520 and wanted the 1520 but couldn't find one on either of the main telcos websites. :-(

Is it possible to walk in store and sign up to a $0 upfront $69 per month plan?

Or is that just online?

The Smart 4 power is awesome for the price. That battery will keep you going for days at a time. It's also free on the $39.00 plan. :)

The Lumia 1520 was not ranged in NZ. Lumia 930 would be the go-to there.
