michaelmurfy: Why only outside cable areas? What if a customer wants more than the 10mbit upload cable offers when there is UFB available?

Concious business decision to shaft customers maximise value from the HFC network

If you want more upload change ufb via another provider

It's convenient to stay with Vodafone, no one else offers an all in one solution for phone/internet/sky like they do, and while they are not perfect the pro's currently outweigh the con's.

Main con's I really want changed are
A: UFB availability in HFC areas
B: Giving HFC customers equal or better upload in the interim
C: Integrated mobile/fixed/internet/sky bill. Having two separate bills is annoying, and not something I found out about till after I'd switched my mobile back to Vodafone hoping to eliminate an extra bill *sigh*

Allowing me to have UFB for internet and HFC for TV in the same premises would also be a nice to have.. Or better yet UFB and cable into the same premises with a router that auto failed over to cable if UFB went down.

No Need for this, VodafoneTV is delivered over the UFB network.

in the case of being in a HFC area however, would it not be more cost effective for vodafone to provide TV over their existing HFC network rather than paying for the extra bandwidth VFTV would be ontop of the UFB connection?

Ild assume that is why Lias is wording it that way.

That, and now I think of it it would be even nicer if the router(s) could both plug into HFC and UFF.. TV and internet.. one goes down, auto switch to other for both TV and data.. mmmmm redundancy.. *droooooooool*

Is 130/10 the maximum the HFC network can do? HFC wont be able to compete when it becomes common to have speeds of 100+mbps through fiber.

I'm down a long'ish driveway where the house in front their drive runs alongside ours for a bit so I hope this doesn't mean a wait for consents from everyone

Nope multiple european and canadian providers offer 200-300Mbit/s down HFC, and Virgin UK has apparently trialled 1.5Gbit/s

FINALLY! This is great news. We have been waiting in Christchurch for well over a year for UFB to be offered by VF over the Enable network. Will be calling up tomorrow to sort our install.

Any word on on launch offer/plans yet NikT?

If you are wanting fibre put an order in now, if a better plan comes up or a launch offer I'd say they will switch you without much problem

Hey guys,

Appears there's been a slight delay while a few final bits 'n' bobs are tidied up, i's are dotted, t's are crossed. Timeframe looks like so:

 - Enable will go live early next week
 - The launch of the promotional offers will hit at the same time
 - UFF will go live around mid-month

Subject to change, but should be as above.

Anyone who's signed up so far should be fine - as ShadowNZ has noted, I'm happy to take a look at those launch promos if anyone else has jumped on board before they're out. :)

Apologies for the false start, will update this thread as I hear more.

I've been penciled for the 24th of September, will that delay push it out much?

Shouldn't be an issue, I'm getting the right folks to look into yours now to make sure.
