You received old stock. Note that version 2 is much better than version 1. Linksys has this tendancy to redesign the hardware without changing the model number. seen it before. An easy way of identifying version 2 in the shops is that it will have a VFX sticker on the box, AFAIK version 2 was released before WxC got them preconfigured.

You can never have enough Volvos!

You have the luck of the devil Steve, as I said in my EMail , the Wag54p2v1 has not been available from distributors for quite some time over 6 Months, it has only been the V2 shipping I believe, Our Boxes have the VFX sticker on them which means they already have some details in them we will have new packaging coming shortly, the company that sold you the device was most probably sitting on old stock ....please please please don't buy Lotto this weekend

Hi Phil

Just to let you know that I also received a version 1 of the WAG54P2 when I only bought it in July this Year from an online retailer.Jodi in Sales was very helpful and offered to swap it for a Version 2.I told the company that I bought it off as they were listing it as compatible with Xnet and they were going to investigate.

...I think there may be some companies that may be sitting on old stock, we will help out when we find customers have the old V1....SteveC has had a bad run I'm afraid.

Heard from my supplier today. Apparently Dick Smith returned some brand new V 1 ones for exchange, and the distributors got them mixed up with V 2

. That accounts for our woes. Anyone else - make sure you check if you have a WAG54P2 with MAC address starting 00 16. The Voice & Internet won't work together!

That is a significant difference between consumer and corporate brands. Cisco wants to have a foot in the consumer and bleeding edge sectors, but 'Cisco' branded equipment doesn't go there as much. Cisco 1200 APs have been current for about four years or so. (Cisco owns Linksys, for the uninitiated.)
