Thank you for the updates accordingly I won't change until I see the new offers [beleive me I won't change just on cost]

I am especially impressed that WxC in addition to excellent service and product make the effort to communicate with your customers

ps: when I say same services I was comparing the VF ['land grab'] offering and what I get now ie POTS [TCNZ] and ADSL [Xnet] I fully appreciate that your forthcoming services when the arrive will be 'next generation'

Remember what happened with Go Large? Everyone jumped on the band wagon and then the network could not support it. It will happen again in other forms with other ISPs (i.e. not just Telecom) especially when you get marketing like "free broadband for a year". As seen last month, WxC has already upgraded their systems in anticipation of future requirements.

Omitting the detail that this upgrade did not come in time to prevent many customers experiencing performance issues which WxC to their credit acknowledged. Perhaps that should be rephrased as anticipation of current and future requirements.

I just called xNet about Naked DSL spoke to Samantha in Biling & Sales who said xNet will be releasing Naked DSL mid December and that the Price is $79.95 then you choose your Data spend.
I got the impression that xNet was going do do it cheaper than everyone else, but $79.95 is what Slingshot and Kiwilink have their NDSL at hmmmm I know this includes VXF but so dose mine at the moment with xNet.
I'm on Flood with a 10 Gig plan max spend $59.95 with VXF.
The Impression I got from the phone call was that you choose you plan as you do now (Flood 49.95 FS/FS) plus the data you want (10 Gig $10) = $59.95

There for why would I want to go to NDSL pay $79.95 (Flood FS/FS Im guessing) plus $x.xx for the data ?
Wouldn't I be better off staying as I am with a phone line ?

Do correct me if I'm wrong about any of this :)

You are forgetting something very important here Starspangle:

At present you are paying $59.95 for the Flood plan with 10GB of data + $45 to Telecom for your phone line

That is a total of $104.95 vs. $79.95 + $10 = $89.95 for the Naked DSL option.

There will be a saving of $15 per month for you if you go for the Naked DSL option. Not exactly a fortune I know but it adds up to $180 per year and may as well be in your pocket instead of Telecom's

Do you understand it now?

I know that, I work for an Aussie ISP who does NDSL, but I don't pay for my landline they do, I just pay for my ADSL becuse I refuse to have my internet with ihug because their network sucks big time (Thats who our Staff accounts are with).
But my next question is.... will xNet keep the VFX free rental or has that ($10) been incoperated into the $79.95 ?
I like the xNet network atleast I can get 6800kbps (850KBps transfer rate) where as when I had it with ihug it was 3700(462KBps).

Oh OK, now your situation becomes clearer. In that case, there is absolutely no advantage to you in signing up for Naked DSL, and there never will be so long as you get a free landline courtesy of your employer

The VFX line rental is incorporated into the Naked DSL charge for the first line only. A second line is $7.95 per month extra.

However, as you've pointed out, Xnet customers get the VFX line rental free anyway, so whether you go for Naked DSL or not, it doesn't make any difference on this score.

I think you will find that the $11.25 which is what it will cost if you have naked bitstream with another isp will be included into the $79.95 if you have naked bitstream and vfx service with xnet.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it would be most unlikely that Xnet will start charging their customers for VFX traffic. This has been one of the key selling points since the service was launched.

Originally the VFX line rental was charged for @ $11.25 per month and IIRC it was in January this year that they waived the fee for all customers initially until April and then it was extended until July. Sometime after that, non-Xnet customers started paying for their VFX line rentals but Xnet customers continue to have the fee waived.

Originally the free VFX line rental scheme was supposed to end when Naked DSL was released, but the launch has been delayed several times, so that hasn't happened yet. It is possible that VFX line rentals may no longer be free for Telecom landline customers after the Naked DSL launch date, but AFAIK nothing definite has been said by Maverick about this issue yet.

At this stage we don't see that changing , VOIP traffic on our network is free and does not come off your DataCap, as for the prices from $8.95 to $11.95 well we don't intend to match what italk have, however I think you will find that the product we offer is a lot superior in functions, reliabilty and quality, italk we don't believe is a true quality replacement PSTN service more of a hobby type offering.

And a thing to remeber and I think a few people are forgetting this, for your current line rental cost that is all you get !!!!!, with VFX you get a heck of a lot more bang for your buck and its still cheaper than a standard line rental, how about you add all the other services in to the costs

These are just a few that you get with Telecom, with VFX you get a lot more including Voicemail to EMail, DND, Anonomous Call Rejection, Call Notify.....and so on,

Now these are services are combined in one package for an awesome price I would say and if your DSL is with us at this stage it's free how much would it cost on a Telecom Line for these services and they can only do a few of them, now we are a business and we think the pricing models we have right now are pretty good and are a very good value for money, wouldn't you expect to pay a fair price for a good product ?

It's interesting to compare the plans with what TCL offer over cable.

$69.95 per month gets you 10Mbps down / 2Mbps upstream and 20GB then $2.95 per 1GB for extra traffic

$99.95 per month gets you 10Mbps down / 2Mbps upstream and 40GB then $2.95 per 2GB for extra traffic

$139.95 per month gets you 10Mbps down / 2Mbps upstream and 80GB then $2.95 per 2GB for extra traffic

I've also heard that the top 2 tier plans will alto automatically be upgraded to the 25Mbps service when it launches for no additional cost but until the launch we obviously won't know if that's true or not.

Yeah it is good, I'm not complaining about the price, but as for quality on VFX I'm not too sure, it was excellent Voice quality when it was first connected, then I had the adsl relocated to my second line and the quality turned to crap, now my landline has better voice quality than my VFX has, what;'s xchange on that I don't know all that happened was the line was changed.
it's hard to hear people on it and the echo in it is just as bad.
Apart from that I enjoy my xNet service the speed is great, I don't get any disconnectins or time outs (except when telecom is playing around with the exchange and disconnect my phone while theuir upgrading the exchange then reconnect and reconnect my BB but connect it to the wrong ISP)

Most who switch will make the switch because they don't use their line much.
So why would they care that they get voice mail, or whatever?

I think what Phil is trying to say is with the PSTN line you have to request these services and pay for them accordingly but on VFX these services are incorporated into the price. So a person who doesnt use them will not pay anymore for VFX than a person who does use them. They are there whether the individual uses them or not.

Interested in this, if your DSL speeds are good and stable then Voice Quality should be excellent, if you PM your details of any call that you think is poor, we can check the system and take a look at the call, you do have a volume control setting in the device management web page as well, but Echo is not something we see to much of at all, so please PM the details and we will take a look
