So with VDSL - there's no putting the username/password in the modem like you did adsl?

Is this right?

So the original jackpoint from the T box ouside is the black wire going into the wall to the small study room.

I had asked the tech that we wanted both the phone and the modem jack on this side of the room down the bottom.
But he did this instead, the phone jack in the study still works and the modem plugs down the bottom thingy.
I would have thought there would be 2 cables coming in 1 for the phone and the other for the modem from the T Box.
So I'd have a phone jack and Ethernet port at the bottom of the wall.

Has the tech just done a quick fix job, rather than doing it properly?

That black cable looks like it might be the 049, inwhich case assuming he put the splitter inside the jack, Yes.

Due to the fact that the firmware on that modem doesnt show the downstream attenuation, cant really make too much from the stats. 35/10 for a fresh install isnt bad though.

Given you had 10.5dB on adsl, ild assume your VDSL 8b attenuation to be about 12~13dB

just shy of 40mbit at that distance is pretty nice. (im assuming line wasn't rather bad before the splitter installation too.)

if your worried take the cover off the phone jack and look in behind for a splitter/filter.

dont worry to much about the upstream noise, you cant control that and its always going to be different to ADSL. Downstream at the moment will normally be 12.

Thats not a bad connection :) just dont restart the connection/modem if you dont have to.

Looks good to me.  Try not to reboot your modem as long as possible for DLM to do its work.

Does vdsl work through direct Ethernet or does it need to have that phone cable connecter? i'm thinking the top box should have had a ethernet port? but he didnt put one because i had said i wanted the jacks at the bottom. So he just ran that Ethernet to the bottom thingy.
As this is sitting behind a desk the modem would therefore be right next to the top box

VDSL works through what ever jack you put on the box on the wall, Chours used RJ45 jacks on the wall, but you could use a RJ12 jack if you wanted.

The top box is your standard phone jack for your normal phone. your VDSL modem will not work in it, nor will a normal phone work in the VDSL Jack.
