johnr: A week away, Have you reviewed the other threads on Geekzone about fibre install time frames?

No I haven't looked.

I didn't order the service, someone else did and I thought they'd have been told if it was only going to take a week to get fibre to just wait rather than put in a subpar dsl tail.

sbiddle: You will not get a UFB install in a week. Period.

Well I kinda expected 3 to 4 weeks personally, which is why I proposed just getting the DSL live.

TBH is the guy had ordered it and had his stuff sorted out when I said to then it would have been there, but he didn't so now I'm left picking up mess.

No joke some in Fibre areas can't even get connected as they can't get consent from all the house owners down shared driveways as the owners can't be contacted as they don't live in New Zealand and don't read or speak English and really don't care

That's a bit bonkers.

The site just had a whole new sewer put in and it has a shared drive way.  I don't think anyone asked anyone anything, the contractor just got busy and did the work.

iirc there was an info from the ministers office recently about law changes to fix this stuff?

D

Sewer is very different from someone just wanting fibre connected to stream RedTube in HD.

My friend round the corner from me in Takapuna can't get connected for this very reason, Shared driveway and one owner is happy connected to xDSL so consent not given

fibre is not an essential service.

if its a shared driveway then hes potentially in for a 100+ day wait to get fibre

Saying a shared driveway just bumped the connection out by another 100 days

If you live in a residential SDU with no shared driveway then you should be able to get a UFB install within a 10-14 day period. Anything else will be within usual timeframes which is basically from 14 days to 9+ months.

Mine took around 2 months up a ROW driveway, and that's with the consent of my neighbour at the back. So 100 days sounds about right.

Really? Ours seem to sit around 4-5 weeks. I feel like mdu's have pushed that average way up.
