I think you beat me. I've hit top 90's on speedtest. Not bad for an up to 30Mbps connection :) Will be interesting to see where these speeds settle over the next couple of years as more people take up 4G RBI.

I also recorded one speedtest that was almost 105Mbps but the ping wasn't so good.  The 700MHz signal disappeared again at about 6pm, but further work is scheduled until 8pm tomorrow so I'm guessing it will come and go for most of the day.  Hopefully they will leave it on after that.

P.S.  I also noticed that a 700MHz licence was purchased for this site on Monday.  So it looks like 4G is here to stay.

JohnR thinks your speed is a bit too fast, so they are now optimising the site trying to get your speed down to 100kbps. Then you will know how all those people on Conklin's feel :)

I've noticed that the local speed tests settle out with a pretty flat line which indicates minimal loading of the site.  A very different story to 3G, but no doubt the loading will increase over time.  My friend Martin was on a cabinet with congested copper backhaul and couldn't watch any streaming video in the evenings.  Making the move to RBI has been a game-changer for him and a few others in the Russell area.  Word is that another of his neighbours may be interested in getting a connection too.

Many thanks Fraser for all the work you did to make this possible.

well it appears our tower is now 4G.
i used a 700 phone to check it.
i was waiting for a vodafone message that it was unlocked and ready.
that never arrived, does that mean the service is unstable and still not ready yet.

i have also noticed that it is a much weaker signal than the 3G and does not have  the  same coverage
it is from the same, and only tower

johnr: @grant_k have you got L700 back this afternoon?

Yes I have John and I'm pleased to see that the signal is a couple of dB stronger than before at -59dBm.

Many thanks to you and Dylan for keeping me informed.

Now that things are quiet I've done a few speedtests and the result is even better than before, by just a smidgen:
