it's good that more information on how to do it is coming to light though, I know it's all kind of a hard process

big ups to Jodi from Xnet though, she sorted me out once telecom fixed the issues, I'm ringing back tomorrow to get the time the telecom man is coming to turn the POTs off, ETA at the moment 3 days and 4 days to port my old telecom number over to the VFX line

Hello, I have become WXC customer couple of days ago.... with Xnet broadband (and of course the free VFX). Broadband - I have used it yesterday all fine but I'm in the process of swapping my VFX hardware from SPA3102 to SPA2102 to make use of the 2nd phone port on SPA2102 for fax.

I have dual number on this line, from TCNZ; I will be soon talking to WXC to get Fusion on this account and to port both of my current TCNZ numbers. I'm know there will be a monthly charge $7.xx for the 2nd number ported and some one-off charges etc.

I'm not worried about the current line with TCNZ going down during the change over up to 3-4 days, but I would like to have the same numbers including the Dual number ported through WXC.My question is do I have to call TCNZ to allocate me a dummy number? Or WXC will take care of things?

So your dual number at the moment is running off one line?
If so, customerlink both numbers, then get a temp number put on the existing line

Then Xnet can port both your numbers later on :)
just get it all done at once, that way telecom won't disconnect the "UMB" from your line which controls your broadband, which they did with me, I'm waiting 2 days for my old river plan to be turned on and Fusion is finally arriving on the 21st, which is a little later that first expected, but I seriously can't wait to get rid of Telecom, they've mucked me around a lot over the past week, Xnet on the other hand have been Excellent :) like usual :)

Thanks for that.. Yes the dual number runs off one line. so should I tell TCNZ that I will be moving to WXC and to give me a temp number for both the numbers?, I will also talk to WXC before calling TCNZ

Telecom hmmmm I'm still waiting for them to connect my NDSL.
It was supposed to be done on friday Jan 11th, they changed it to Monday Jan 14th, called xNet it was completed, still had dial tone, called Xnet to lodge a fault, telecome guranteed it will be fixed on the afternoon of Tuesdy Jan 15th, and hello Wed 16th and it's still not done, I still have a dial tone, called xNet again, lodging yet another fault to telecom to have it fixed.
Whats up with that ?

Yeah just one number for the line, get both the dual numbers customerlinked, then you won't lose them

with the customerlinked numbers you can get both the numbers forwarding to your temporary number as well and that'll stay on till Xnet completes teh VFX transfer, then they cancel the customerlink and telecom side for you, although they tell you to ring up after a week to check that telecom has actually cancelled everything

Yeah they do take a while, but I'm happy to wait another week just to get rid of them and have one bill with Xnet and their great customer service reps :)

Sounds like either they've forgotten to take the POTs out of the exchange, as you should have no dialtone whatsoever once it's done, weird :S
Telecom do seem very rude on the phone when you tell them you are changing providers and seem to not give the right information at the moment, once the process is sorted and I got a hint from Jodi last night that Xnet might be taking over the Customerlinking side of things too, to make the transition smoother. I think the first lot of us are just guniea pigs and I'm happy to take a hit for the team if it means that it'll make it easier for others in the future.

Got a call from Xnet this arvo, telecom say that their not sure whats gone wrong but will deffinatly have my NDSL connected by 3.15pm tomorrow, xNet say if it's still not done by 3.30 call them back and they will call telecom.
Very annoying, can't wait to see the end of the telecom line :)

Hi everyone:

Have been following this thread, but it's a little confusing for me on how I should be donig this. Can someone please explain to me what I actually have to do to sign up to Xnet Fusion and port my current Telecom number over to Xnet VFX/Fusion..?

I'm currently a Xnet Flood customer (FS/FS), with my phone services on Telecom. I'd like to sign up to Xnet Fusion and port my current telecom number across to Xnet.

Spoke to Xnet who advise me to ring Telecom, but Telecom just won't do it - they even told me that if Xnet wants my business they should arrange to port my number across and not me ringing Telecom to do all this...

So, can someone please advise what do I have to do..?

Yeah telecom seem to be becoming more unhelpful as the days roll on!!!!
Think they are annoyed at being called up so much:

Here's what you do again:

First:

Ring Telecom say "Customerlink my number and provide me with a temporary number please"
Say "goodbye telecom"
Ring Xnet say "I'd like to sign up for Xnet Fusion, I'm an existing customer and also want VFX with my number ported"
They'll hopefully say "excellent, what is your current telecom account number, DOB etc or send you a VFX Application form to fill out and fax back"
Then:
Wait round 4 days to port your old number to the VFX service, give them your MAC address of the new analogue to digital converter etc so they can configure it on the line. Then plug your phone into it and you can use your old number.
You'll have to wait round 4-10 days for the NDSL/Pots switch over, so you'll have two numbers for a bit, as soon as you pick up your phone on the temporary number and it's dead, then it'll be on NDSL :)
Ring telecom back round a week later, ask them for the final bill and check there are no remaining services with them. Then say goodbye to bad customer service and hello to the world of one bill for all :)

Ring Telecom say "Customerlink my number and provide me with a temporary number please"
Once you have set this up, which number will people call you up? Is it the old telecom phone number or the temporary number? During the time that your number has not yet been port to your VFX account. Appreciate your response here.

You can either get the customerlinked number diverted to your temp number(at 5c per minute)
I have mine diverted to my workphone. Or tell people to call your temporary number for now to save on costs.

Then as soon as it gets ported, the diversion will drop off meaning your number will be on the VFX
