@mtinwala, Unfortunately it sounds like you're just in one of the non-cabinetised areas of Mt Eden mentioned by @sbiddle above.  I believe in general the cabinetised areas will now show VDSL as being available - so they say something like

 

  • Broadband > 20 Mbps (with the right modem and plan)
- my issue predated VDSL so I never had that clue - I just had to point to the chorus website, ask if I was on a red network connection and if they could move me to a wholesale connection instead.

Have a look at the fibre coverage in Mt Eden - they've just "gone live" with fibre through a big strip down the middle... if you're on a neighboring property or have line of site to someone who can get fibre there may be options to share it in some way.
