I used to get these all the time from some number I had never heard of too. I just ignored them. If they really want to talk to me they can text me properly and I'll call them back.

I am very unlikly to want to talk to someone who is out of credit to be honest. Is there an opt out for this if it becomes a problem? I have never seen them when I have been on VF.

Now that the answer has been found, wouldn't it be ethical to remove the number and Facebook link so that Geekzone isn't giving out people's phone numbers so easily?

Good idea. Remove the whole thread even.

kiwifidget:

johnr: @kiwifidget it's a VodafoneNZ ' Callme ' SMS

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile/apps-services/

Maybe the 021 number is Prepay and has no credit / minutes

Is that the actual wording VF uses. "U" instead of "you" and nothing to indicate whether the text is legit or not?

Yes, because Vodafone rather look "cool", "hip" and "youthful" than use proper English when there's more than enough space.
