Why don't xnet just sell the correct units through there own web site as part of the sign up process. Option: Would you like us to supply or would you like to shop around and get a better deal for the hardware? As VFX/naked dsl catches on average no tech people will not want to have search around for the right hardware. Most other providers will send you the gear if you need it.
Some suppliers already sell Xnet branded units which are fully compatible with VFX. Look for an Xnet VFX sticker on the box.
So far I've seen the Xnet branded stuff at Dick Smith, PB Tech, E-One Computers, Etown Digital retail stores. But you can also buy online from Ascent, C1Shoppingmall, elive etc.
If you do not hear of XNet at a shop where they promote it, then you will only find them on-line through a search and then their site will point you to a retailer to get hardware.
DSE does not actively promote VFX very well, but they do promote Slingshot. The other day I saw the XNet display disappeared where as a week before they had it alongside Slingshot (was in Sylvia Park, don't know if the display went up again). PB Tech does promote VFX and they do have a large display (in Penrose, Auckland) with no competitor. I think the problem lies with some retailers not promoting the product, but then WxC should follow up to see if their partners do their job. Maybe it is about priorities, and with the large uptake of Fusion I do not think WxC needs the extra work of hardware sales (and stock and warranty/support) at this stage. They have enough other things to do.
All fine if you live a big city,the only prefered supplyer where I live (just outside Tauranga) is DSE. And they don't stock much (only the PAP2T). So its rather hard to "look for the VFX" sticker when there ain't no stock. Have you ever asked a staff member at DSE about VFX? Well don't bother they dont know anything...
