On the topic of Gigabit UFB, Woohoo, I'll upgrade as soon as I have some free time during the call center hours (online login takes me to the "customer zone" with little info other than bills & data use)

On the topic of "fiberX", I think this is misleading. All internet technologies use fiber as a backhaul at some level, Technology naming convention refers to the last mile tech. Referring to the co-axial copper network as "fiber" clearly breaches this.

I don't care how much they have improved Cable, just don't call it fibre!

I'm sure I had someone come to the door once trying to sell their inferior cable to me when fibre is available in the same place.

So vodafone dropped 200mbit fibre for a quite some time, then suddenly say yeah gbit!

gbit on cable, Ha, this will be amusing.....

Vodafone need to stop classing their Cable service as Fibre, It does not preform ANYTHING like Fibre services here...

extracts:

The price in the Northpower, Enable and Ultra Fast Fibre UFB areas will be $140 a month. [VF] says “Elsewhere”, read that as the Chorus UFB area, prices will be released in the “near future”.

Vodafone’s FibreX price will be interesting. Because the UFB network will overbuild the FibreX network, there’s a competitive constraint on the amount Vodafone can charge set by the fibre network wholesalers.

At the same time, the FibreX network is vertically integrated, so there is no-one clipping the ticket.

They should drop 30mbit low end fibre and make the minimum plans

Gigabit not available from vodafone outside of dunedin. (I re-read the press releases and see they stated available "Soon").

Come on vodafone, gigabit UFB is available for resale from Chorus, and your competitors are offering it now...

Perhaps I was too harsh. I was rather it was done right when it is ready, than being rushed out as a substandard product.
