Niel: Check eBay, but make sure you do not get the PAP2T-NA. I see the WAG54GP2 is AU$99 on the Australian eBay site.

Phil, can you please confirm that it is only the PAP2T where we must check that it is not the "-NA"? Thanks.

Yeah saw those. But couldn't find one that would ship to NZ.

OK, alot cheaper for the combo with our Techlink account. I just want to make sure that I am definately looking at the right items:

1. Dynalink Dual Interface ADSL2+ Modem Router RTA1320 + Firewall
2. Lynksys WRP400 Wireless-G Broadband router with 2 phone ports

So I take it going this route means the Dynalink plugs into the phone socket on an ADSL splitter, and then the Lynsys plugs into the Dynalink over Cat5?

I'm a programmer but hardware is a pretty foreign area to me... I assume I'll have two lots of setup to do here. Is there a guide or forum post around to aid a newb in that?

This is what my question was, is it only the PAP2T-NA that can not be used or is it all the -NA devices?

This is why Niel, our good friends at Trademe will not remove the offender since we don't manufactuerer the equipment even though we have pointed the fake dealers out, we have had several people now burnt by this, it only applies to the PAP2-NA /PAP2T-NA

I read that thread. It actually made me look for the AM300 for three reasons: Its the same price, there is a decent setup guide right there for it, and someone said it is a better choice over the RT1320 if you live within 4km of an exchange.

Apparently there is an exchange at 1 Akoranga Drive, Northcote. Which puts us less than 2.5km away. The guy in that thread sounded pretty happy with the unit too.

If there aren't any violent "No"s to this, I will organise the AM300 and WRP400 today and get our internet sorted finally.

Just got off the phone to Techlink. No AM300's, stock overdue, and 21 days away.

This is becoming a joke, and I havn't even signed up with a provider yet!

There are 2 on TM, one is about $79 + $10 P&P. DSE have plenty on the shelf at $99.

Cheapest I found on Pricespy was $68, but none of those have stock. So beggers can't be chosers. An extra $20-30 it is.

Have you asked them? I have found many times that eBay sellers will actually ship items from AU to NZ. Are we not yet an AU province/territory? (We are closer to becoming a CN territory, but that is a different story...)

Based off past experience on Ebay Aus, it's not worth the time asking. Admittingly this experience is limited to people selling classic car parts rather than tech companies, but I've emailed around 10-12 and recieved one reply.

In any case, I have decided to leave the WAG54 due to a few bad reviews I have found since starting this thread, and have got hold of a WRT400 today and will pickup a AM300 (or similar modem) tomorrow.

coffeebaron - do you still reckon I'm better off with the AM300 if I am only 2.5km from my exchange? You mentioned something about "sync speed"?

As soon as they get here, I can get this application and MAC address away at last (still gotta work out WHICH MAC address they need).

Hey all,

Tell me if this is a dumb question but is it possible to use and old router that does not have VOIP to connect to Fusion and only have the internet? Then once the Linksys is back in stock up can replace router and get phone as well. Basically I really only need internet access at the moment and having to wait another few weeks is going to cause problems.

I know the listings on eBay from seller voip1979 (US and AU sites) are for WAG54GP2 v1 devices, although this isn't stated in the auction adds. This guy ships internationally. You can land one for about US $100.

Can anyone tell me wether the v1 devices will work with VFX?

No sorry the V1 has some fundamental hardware issues that produce poor quality audio so we do not support them

On a good connection, the AM300 will serve you well and generally syncs a bit faster on an average connection. The setup is fairly straight forward too. Flick me a post or PM if you get stuck.
