dylanp: It's off topic, but if you can change it to being monitored by data instead of SMS and your main mobile is on a recent on account Vodafone plan you might be able to get $0 data share sims. So then you can share your main mobile data allocation to other devices.

Good suggestion, but already looked at data sharing either vodafone or 2degrees by using a pay monthly account, but due to the location of the bach it only gets fast 4g on Spark network (vodafone/2d only 3g speeds), so I'm with skinny for my main mobile.

4g means I can get work done quicker (if needed) when the family is on 'holiday' :)

Skinny casual rate is 20 cents so no use to my family members, I might look at moving them all to Warehouse mobile now but then issue is 2Degrees coverage where national roaming is not enabled to VodafoneNZ

Really? Comparing the Warehouse coverage map with the 2degrees one, they look pretty similar.

Sorry, I was clearly not awake when I wrote that. I haven't had trouble with 2degrees coverage in my neck of the woods... the "coverage problem" I had a few months ago turned out to be a faulty handset that Samsung fixed.

No good to me, I use less than $20 per year with Vodafone. Or at least I did . . .

I use my phone with WiFi when I can, leaving mobile data turned off unless I'm desperate.

I receive voice calls which costs nothing. I almost never make calls.

I send and receive txts, which have been costing 1c for each sent one.

When I changed to Vodafone over a year ago it was for the 1c texts since 2Degrees had recently bumped up theirs from 9c to 20c. At the time Skinny also had txts at 1c. I got a message today from Vodafone about the upcoming price increases, re-checked Skinny's rates - they are 20c for txts now.

Now I'm undecided - 10c is 10x as much, but everyone else is dearer so no real point in changing mobile providers. For pay as you go the Vodafone plan is still the cheapest for primarily texting.

The other option is to switch to a prepay plan which would allow me to use data as I feel like. Checking the plans I don't think I'd stay with Vodafone. Vodafone is $19/28 days, 2Degrees is $19/Month, Skinny is $16/28 days, Spark can suck it (less data for same price). On plans Skinny is the front runner - you get 1GB of rollover data per 28 days and it works out cheaper than 2Deg or Vodafone. It would be nice to be able to use Google Maps or Plugshare or Google Assistant wherever I am. My yearly costs would change to $208 but I could happily make calls and use data as I feel like.

I'm already on Prepay Pay & Go. So are the prices going up or not?
