Same as anything else IP-based - they don't without a battery backup

Sorry if slightly off topic, but does Vodafone have any plans to introduce VoLTE?

I would like to ditch our landline altogether, but I think VoLTE is the key for us.

Your phone base can be plugged into any socket in the house. You just connect the nearest socket into the router and that enables all phone sockets. But first disconnect the POTS connection.

You can specify you want all connected jackpoints in your home to have dialtone as part of a UFB install with VOIP landline.

My parents are on Fibre (UFB) as of a few weeks ago all phones in the house work the same as on copper and also the old monitored house alarm no issues

Thanks to @coffeebaron came and did a fantastic job of the house wiring setup for Fibre, My parents are in their 70's and don't notice any difference

Can you have dial tone in every jack on VDSL as well? I have a master jack thing installed behind TV, we can't get UFB until late next year . The stuff article said it had to be attached to the modem that's why they are giving away free handsets. Hope can get dial tone every jack. The phone by the TV is a pain

Yes it's the modem that generates the dial tone

What does VoLTE have to do with this? All VoLTE does is carry voice traffic over 4G - which is unnecessary because all 3 networks have perfectly good 3G networks for voice.

Spark also carry VoIP traffic over 4G using a dedicated APN to quarantee QoS which is all VoLTE really does.

Suppose there is always that hot VoLTE will bring cross carrier HD voice?

i'd certainly prefer not to be dropping to 3G for every call...

When does the rollout start in November? I assume the copper lines would still work if switching back to Spark, etc until 2022, but interested to know how Chorus would deal with a switch from VoIP -> PTSN.
