No, I don't but it would put me off moving there if I was looking at it.
This is a pretty harsh comment - the vast majority of cable users have no issue at all with the product or service.

Be the same for me as well.

not really given the quality of service that and issues that were being had a few years ago and all the minor niggly issues that some are still facing.
not to mentions vodafones reaction to this which was silence.
Thread bump. Any change in the situation? A cousin of mine is looking at property here and wants to know what the broadband is like (currently he has fibre). Is is still just cable here, or anything planned?
I see earlier in this thread some parts of the town seem to get differing things.

Ahh Pegasus, where all of life's decisions are made for you*
*Residents Association will choose/approve your: house shape/size/materials/colour, fence type/size/height/colour, letterbox shape/colour, Sky dish and freeview antenna location, lawn height/ mowing schedule, your caravan location in relation to front elevation of house, tree species and location, dog breed, roof colour/material, location of parked vehicles (unregistered/unwarranted cars to be hidden in garage at all times), choices of any landscaping feature on private property, location of clothes line, plus many more hits....
The residents can choose: their children's names and what to have for dinner (as long as cooking of said dinner does not emit excessive odour)
And rightly so! Otherwise everyone's section would end up looking like this:
As usual, you are too picky! :-)
A plethora of outdoor amenities, easily accessible firewood, community trailer, and a lovely rustic feel.
Edit: Rustic not rusty, but a dual option for that also.

Yikes. I bet the driver if the StreetView car breathed a sigh of relief when he/she got out of there alive!
Ohura is well known to IFR pilots though.

Had heard later sections of Pegasus could get green fields fiber. We've just brought out in Pegasus and it looks like Cable is only available at our new residence (on main drag). Community FB pages seem to hint at semi-regular issues with cable, however it seems that DOCSIS 3.1 is more reliable which is what we will be getting. Will miss our never-blinks fiber.

Looks like they've been too scared to go back since 2010 as well!

Waikuku Beach, Woodend and Woodend Beach are all getting UFB.
There appears to be nothing for Pagasus, there is nothing on the road map and I think that is unlikely to change unless the residents or developer stump up for it.
I can't see Chorus, Council or Central Govt stumping up for funding this.

I know TelstraClear/Vodafone got an exclusive right to provide services to Pegasus, just not sure how long its for? Perhaps one day Enable will infill Pegasus as part of their own infill later on? Its been 10 years since the first home was built out there, how long do these exclusivity contracts normally last?
Probably complicated by the original developer going bust in 2012.
Ugh, I'd never move there even if vodafone cable was the best residential connection in NZ - because if they stop being good, you don't have any options.
And they aren't good, of course, they're vodafone.

Ohura is indeed a well known beacon point in the IFR sensor network, its also is well known to white collar crim's of the past.
In a past life I used to visit the area on a monthly basis to do TV transmitter checks and maintenance, drap little town to be honest
Cyril
Maybe there could be other options available now, as per this article on their website (admittedly from 2015):
https://www.pegasusresidentsgroup.com/news/2015/7/15/notes-from-vodafone-meeting-13-july
The Hybrid Fibre Coax cable system was developed in Canterbury around 2000 – this system is the same as the cable TV network in the United States. For Pegasus Town it was initially an exclusive deal with the developer. It is no longer exclusive however other providers are not interested in over building existing network.
I dunno why - Enable are doing it in Christchurch and Chorus are doing it in Wellington and Kapiti, all places that have legacy TCL cable. Why not Pegasus? Cost? Access?
