I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.
peejayw: John, is there any chance the 900mHZ rollout "youknowwhere" is going to happen any time soon? Been waiting since Feb and that "coming in April" date is well in the past, my 6121 is gathering cobwebs.
Now based in Perth WA.
johnr:coffeebaron: Vodafone switches off 2G network in fives years - that's my prediction.
I'd say it will be mainly 900 3G outside of the main centres. I'd also say most handsets by end of next year will be 900 3G capable. Another 2 years after that for the average user to have a 900 3G handset, then another 1-2 years to move remaining users.
Anyway, just my thoughts, but should spark some good debate.
2G will be around longer than 5 years as cells for capacity and coverage are still been deployed
and 3G will be a mixture of 2100 and 900

Ok, that seems more realistic.
Great news for the industry, i wonder now if the now departed Kevin Kendrick at Telecom is glad he left when he did, not going WCDMA sooner and not going 850MHZ like Telstra, ouch. very costly for Telecom.
Vodafone may finally have the data upper hand..
