If your friend borrows your laptop and then breaks it, you think it's ok for him to hand it back to you saying "I broke it, can you have it fixed so I can borrow it again?"
If the laptop had a warranty then yes, that would be reasonable. There is nothing that says that trying to clone a simcard would break it, and the others all unsucessfully read without breaking so perhaps it did just die on its own as the guy in the store said they do all the time?
Funnily enough it was only the prepay one that died, the others were all contract, and those are free to get replaced if they die.
