maverick: It will be the router, that is my educated guess the wrp400 is a good unit and won't be the problem Aaryn..... I would almost lay my reputation on it (that's if I had one of course )

Um, confusion in terminology then.

I would call the WRP400 the router in my system, while the AM300 or DSL54T is the modem.

So let me get this straight:
1. You think the problem is with the modem? (AM300/DSL54T).
2. You don't imagine a problem with the WRP400?

I serously doubt I could send the DSL54T back on the basis of "my VOIP phone cuts out sometimes"

3 brand new modems in as many months seems a bit rough. God I wish I went with the all-in-one. :-(. Am I better off doing this now perhaps? What feedback do yo have on the WAG54GP2.

Isn't the section for entering login info locked by Xnet?

Nope, this is on the basic setup side - but can only be done this way with the above mentioned Draytek (that I know off), or if you have an alternative broadband connection that supports PPPoE.

Also, the difference between the router & modem. The modem is the bit that talks to the DSLAM (ADSL port at exchange). The router is the bit that handles the IP addressing. The AM300 and DSL-504T perform both functions. So effectively you have two routers - AM300 or 504T and WRP400.

I can help you with setting up the D-Link to operate a bit more WRP400 friendly. PM me if you would like some help - I can do this remotely for you.

Ok i have tried 2 more modems, the siemens seemed to have the same problem, The linksys for the 1 call I used seemed fine unsure of other ppl in the house. Any chance you could look at the last calls and see if everything is getting through now?.

If not I guess ill have to look at the wrp400 as being the problem.

Sorry, I've been out all w/e and forgot about this.

I managed to fix the issue (seems that way so far anyway). I found that the AM300 was turning itself off all the time because it had the wrong power supply.

I found the original and gave it another go, and what Maverick said appears to be accurate. The problem appears to be the DSL54T.

I don't reckon it's faulty. CB, I may hit you up about configuring it properly when I'm not so snowed under. I do prefer that unit over the AM300.

Can you give me the date and time of calls, the ones I checked did see a bit of packet loss still, the last one on the 26th at 9:56 and the one yesterday look a lot better though.

Well I hooked the linksys wag200g up Saturday night around 9-10pm. The few days before that would of been the Siemens which seemed to be just as bad as the Dynalink.

So any calls from Sat night on I guess. Any calls Sunday or Today would of been on the linksys.

Still seems less like a faulty modem issue and more towards either a probelm with the WRP or something to do with the voip traffic and the modemsI tried. I don't know bugger all about voip thou.

I really liked the setup of the dynalink with the half bridge mode, currently to get all my stuff to work correctly I have to turn off the firewall on the linksys wag200g and put the linksys wrp400 into the dmz of it.

So I ran ping plotter when I had a phone call and this is what happens......

Where the ping goes back down is when the call stopped.

Hi Guys
Im kinda new to this but have a same / similar problem
every few minutes downstream VFX has about 4 or 5 seconds of silence so i cant hear the person on the other end of the line, but they can constantly hear me ok. happens consistently on most incoming and outgoing calls. voice inbetween the pauses seems fine. This has become very frustrating and unworkable for important calls, so i spoke to james at xnet today.
He has substituted me to the lower spec codec tonight and appears to be better but havnt had a chance to test fully.
Would rather find and fix the problem and go back to the higher quality codec as i believe i can notice the call quality suffering especially when talking over each other it tends to cut the other person off.
My setup
i have an RTA1320 into a wrp400 and xnet fusion (no telecom ph line - yay!)
A laptop wireless to the Wrp400
theres no other connections, the 1 x cordless ph is plugged into the wrp400
Telecom get 3meg connection at our street junction and at the house demark connection, but i only connect fairly constantly at arround 2meg on the rta1320
ive done a few speed tests earlier (copy latest below) and sometimes get as low as 26% QOS
heres one done now (at midnight ish) showing a fairly good result (for me) but the QOS is 77% and indicates some voice dropout probable

Can i go in and tweak the QOS settings or other relevant settings on my modem and or router to improve my overall service.
They are currently as per factory setup i believe.

Any suggestions appreciated

PS internet seems otherwise fine.
