Not from me. I'm not on it and it still hurts.

But we did get a speed test result from one user... can't add it here for some reason...

Any of the testers are welcome to post! fire away...

But that is amazing! I wish I could get anything even close to 20mbps, and now this?!?

And I'm here with a cabinet without cabinetisation for the next 2 years, when there's a cabinet less than 500m away which has been, and I'm 2km from the exchange. Just stuck in the middle... (at least I get to be on the Red network for a little longer)

49/16Mbs yep I'd take that one, any idea of the approx line length on that test.

from paul from voda forum linked above regarding speed test of 50Mbps/16Mbps for dl/ul:

It does beg the question: whither fibre to the home... do you need it today or will this do?

i dont know what the stats are but i bet than less than 5% of the population is probably going to be able to take advatage of VDSL2 with the distance limits

what are the options to get these speeds to *every* household?

* FTTH
* more VDSL cabinets (no more than 1km from every house in the neighbourhood) and FTTN
* Wireless Technology "XYZ"

I think that the first answer to this question is: "which is cheaper?"

Slightly better answer is "which is cheaper over time?"

With the reach of fiber you could go back to a single mega-exchange servicing thousands of households and have one place to update equipment which is always cheaper per port for higher density.

I saw an article somewhere saying that Telecom are already rolling out 4 cabinets per day as part of their cabinetisation plan. Image if they were deploying enough cabinets for <1km reach? How many cabinets per day would they need to install for that? Would you even get resource consents for that many boxes?

I'd be inclined to say the answer is more likely to be fiber or wireless than vdsl2
