chevrolux - "What's the actual issue though?":  A couple of main ones at this point.  1. The address often comes up as part of the ID process at the start of a call; and 2. almost four weeks down we still have not received the new modem or confirmation of the agreed new 12 month contract.  The address issue seems to be a sticking point.  In addition, it is kind of frustrating that after ~6(?) years or so of trying and multiple promises of fixing the issue, the wrong address is still there.

 

MurrayM - "The problem with that is that you've now got data in your DB that doesn't pass validation. The next time someone tries to edit that data it'll get rejected as being invalid ...".   Maybe ... or maybe not?  The current, incorrect address that is in the system also does not validate on the Vodafone system (since none of the x** numbers on this road are recognised by the Vodafone system).  And a Vodafone rep today explicitly confirmed that the current incorrect address is not recognised (below).

 

To the several posters who suggested walking ...  I understand and appreciate the recommendation but I do have a couple of reasons for preferring to stay at the moment - that is apart from having been with Vodafone - TelstraClear - Paradise - IHUG for ~25+ years; ie. from whenever it was that IHUG first started.  1. 2degrees mobile reception at our rural property is nearly non-existent (one person here is on 2degrees and almost never has a signal).  That would not be acceptable for my business use; and 2. I hate to say it but Vodafone being global brand name is relevant for me as almost all my work is for a major global corporate.  Any network disruptions are better tolerated for a recognised brand.  

 

That said, if the service gets any worse, drags out too much longer, or if downstream they drop the "Vodafone" branding and "Sparkify" then it will be all bets off.

 

Brief follow up.  I received a call this morning from someone in India (not Bombay this time) following up on comments I submitted on the customer satisfaction survey at the end of my call with Bombay reps the other day.  Had left a message yesterday by I could not hear the message clearly enough to follow up.  Excellent English. Call went very smoothly.  He said he could not guarantee he would be able to fix what many others had failed to do and could not give a definitive time frame but said he would do his best to resolve the issue and get back to me.  Nothing had to be repeated.  Logged into the NZ Post website on first request and confirmed the address is real and had no mail delivery, and had already established before I asked that the current incorrect address is not recognised by the Vodafone address validation system either.  Did say where he was based but the name of the city(?) was a four letter word that I did not recognise and cannot now recall.

2degrees do have WiFi calling though - no cell signal needed as long as there is another internet connection.

Yes, but does not help for most of the property which is out of wifi range.

A big thank you to rushtoe.  I gather our address has now been corrected on the VF system (in ~20 mins elapsed from receipt of my DM).

 

One part not clear to me though.  Chorus database apparently used for address validation - and our address reportedly not in the database.   But as per my post yesterday, at least the public facing Chorus & Vodafone Address Check websites have no problem identifying our address (and never have on the half dozen or so times I have checked over the last 2 - 4 years).  

 

Same applies for the ~35 other x** and larger numbers on our road (all rural, and none of them postal addresses)?

Good suggestion, however the issue with the 2degrees WiFi calling (especially in this particular case / I'm the person mentioned with the 2degrees mobile :)) is that it doesn't work if the phone was parallel imported.

 

 

 

From the 2degrees help section:

 

If you purchased your Samsung phone from a Parallel Importer or brought it back from overseas then it will not be compatible with 2degrees Wi-Fi Calling.
