invisibleman18: Interested to know how how Pay Monthly customers are going to be "actively encouraged" to move to the endless data plans. I'm currently on a 10GB plan and I see there's an endless one for the same price, although it's only max speed to 4GB then reduced. I don't use the full 10 now and I understand that's all at max speed so not sure whether to change or not.
So on that I just got an email suggesting I change to the new "medium" plan which is $60 for 12GB at max speed. Clicking on the link provided brings up that option and the two larger ones, but not the $40 plan available on the website. However, when checking my bill it seems I have been paying $60 for the 10GB plan rather than $40 as I thought. I'm halfway through paying for the S10 over 24 months which is why I was confused - the monthly total included the plan plus an amount for the phone and for some reason I had the amount of the plan wrong. So may in fact be worth switching for more data for the same cost.
Although when getting the S10 on a pre-order deal with the plan I thought you were locked into the plan until the phone was paid off so would need to check that before attempting to change.
More information:
Following Wednesday's announcement from the Telecommunications Forum that industry players would be opening no-contact stores, Vodafone NZ confirms 45 stores will be open from Monday to support Kiwis with essential services during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Located from Whangarei to Invercargill*, these outlets will be open for three hours daily for pre-booked appointments only, to fulfil pre-specified requests. They will have limited hours and be designed to support customers as ‘Essential Connectivity Hubs’ – which includes getting or remaining online via mobile and broadband devices.
Carolyn Luey, Consumer Director, highlights that Vodafone is aiming to keep New Zealanders connected during this challenging time for all. “We know connectivity is incredibly important as a lifeline to the outside world while we’re stuck indoors and away from friends and extended family.
“Our Essential Connectivity Hubs will provide key services including new or replacement SIM cards, mobile phones and home broadband modems.
“We will continue to prioritise the health of our people and customers first and foremost, so we will be implementing a range of precautionary safety measures within these hubs.”
Vodafone Essential Connectivity Hubs will be open only to existing customers with pre-booked appointments. They will include no customer interactions, and payments will need to be completed by the customer over the phone via credit card before visiting the hub.
The hubs will operate every day throughout the lockdown from Monday 30 March onwards, opening between 11am to 2pm.
Customers can book appointments via an online portal, which will connect them via phone to a representative from the store who will agree on a time for the customer to visit.
Appointments will be spaced out a 30-minute intervals to ensure customers do not come in close contact. Products and paperwork will be passed through the door, or under roller door, with the customer asked to stand three meters away at all times to ensure no contact occurs.

Just got an email.
Vodafone is now offering Rural Wireless customers unlimited data between midnight and 9am.
I suppose it is the best they can do under the circumstances. It is welcome.
