Haha, another "if you don't like it, leave" redneck-ism. There are some lazy people around today. You suggest leaving rather than fixing? Wow.

Anyway, anyone else think this is possibly in response to the recent complaints regarding regular users being throttled at midnight? Perhaps they're installing some new equipment.

Sent an email to Help and they said they would hopefully have it sorted by sometime this afternoon.

I am to go home and reboot my router.  Which I shall do later on.

Fingers crossed.

Yes I understand throttling heavy traffic but not to 10Kbs - its a bit extreme

Xnet status for this issue on website now says issue is resolved.

Proof will be in the performance pudding later.

Its 12:30 and I had to access gmail through the low res html interface since the bandwidth was terrible.

Current download is peeking at 12kbs (from usenet its terrible)

speedtest down 3105kbs

Doesn't appear issue is resolved usenet was just awful overnight again with about 40mb downloded all night.  Is xnet trying to shape traffic after midnight?

Yeah, same here, normally getting ~200meg / night atm (low sources), but last night was only 10!

I think the 'playing around with bandwidth shaping' theory is highly plausable!  I think in general it's probably a good idea (as long as you still get half decent throughput) but it obviously still needs a bit of tweaking : )

Type: unscheduled

Subject: Xnet Broadband - issue confirmed

Begin: 2008-10-07 18:35:00

End: No ETA

Body:

We are currently investigating a problem which only appears to be affecting a small number of Broadband users. It appears the upload throughput for some users is extremely low (0-1 bytes). This is causing problems browsing some websites, logging on to MSN & various other issues.

We have escalated this issue to our Operations team and hope to resolve it shortly.

upload throughput? My national upload speedtests show 800 kbps, which is as good as ever. But still can`t sign into MSN Messenger.

Ok, my MSN is back, and so are a couple of sites that I wasn`t able to access. Seems sorted.
