I'd prefer they spend no time at all looking at these forums and instead spend ime thinking about how they can implement equitable per user bandwidth and p2p caching cheaply and effectively so their service is actually usable... but hey that's just me.

You can talk about p2p caching all you want but it won't happen due to NZs new copyright laws. That is, as long as you are referring to "illegal" p2p files. Sure it would be an awesome idea and free up international bandwidth.

but.
It provides that there is no liability for an ISP when storing and caching infringing copyright material when it deletes or prevents access to infringing material as soon as possible after it becomes aware that the material is likely to infringe copyright. To facilitate ISPs becoming aware of infringing material, regulations outline what information is to be provided when a notice of infringement is submitted to ISPs.

You countered your own arguement, isp caching is excluded and most solutions don't store full files on physical disk.

Only if the ISP deletes any copyright infringing material as soon as it knows about it I'd make a crude guess that 70% of data that would be cached would be classed as "copyright infringing"
