bendud: Well it’s Q3 and still nothing, it seems.

2021 has 12 months in it and we are only up to the 7th

While that’s true, they delayed the launch of eSIM not too far from when it was intended to launch originally, right? Given that, you would assume they’d got a fair way along the journey in terms of dev work and so on. If that’s the case, what exactly is taking so long?

Having been involved with complex IT projects that have been delayed and were put on ice by COVID (although not knowing what this project involves), it’s not like you start from scratch if you push pause.

I’m in Europe for 6 weeks at the moment. I’ve had in the past had my phone stolen/lost. Would have been great to be able to walk into a Apple store pick up a new iPhone join Wi-Fi download your phone again and provisions a eSIM straight from the Vodafone app or by a QR code otherwise you are fuked until you can have a SIM card sent from NZ. A week with out your number is not a good feeling

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

FFS!! And they don't even bother to email those people who signed up to be notified of "the latest news on Vodafone eSIM"

I'm now looking at suitable plans to switch to on Spark:

I was with EE in the UK, when I changed phone they had to sent out a new QR code to register the eSIM on the new phone.

I agree with you on this one, I signed up again with a different email in case I made an error!

I currently have a eSIM on a prepay plan running parallel to my main VF account. I find their eSIM offering to be a rocker in the market as they are the only ones at this time to offer it. With iPhone's having dual SIM but not dual physical, everyone that wishes to take advantage of this has to go with Spark. Hope no more delays with VF.

At this point I might as well give up and try to actually like Spark…

Seriously Vodafone if you want a (at least somewhat) competent project manager to get this thing back on track and out the door, hit me up yeah?

The lack of eSim from Voda is definitely annoying but wouldn’t be enough to push me to churn. Their network (particularly offnet calling *cough*former 2D customer*cough*) and pricing is quite competitive compared to both Spark/2D (especially when going through the online chat channel).

For a network that hands out sims at the airport to visitors it's sad that they are only going to market this to postpay.  Seems like a great market case for tourism especially when you could sign up on the plane and have an active service when you land.

VF were my first choice with a NZ sim but unfortunately I opted to keep my AU sim physical and went with an esim Spark was the only choice.  Haven't had any complaints with Spark so VF loss I guess.

May opt to re-explore in the future when I am more permanent in NZ.

I take back my "handing out sims" comment.

I have been wanting to port from Spark to VF for a while but in Australia there's no way to get a VF sim to do so.  I did reach out and ask if they would send one here for me and was told nope, not going to happen, won't send outside of NZ.  Great response given how many expats are in Australia and probably still retain a NZ number.  Anyway, will re-review my desire to use VF when/if esim ever happens.
