freitasm: It's becoming something constant - every second day or so the DSL router in my parents-in-law's place needs to be reset. It's an aging Dlink DSL-G604T Wireless router, from the times they used Telecom NZ services but now connected to WorldxChange.

It only happens at night, and they find out in the morning when the phone (VFX) is deaf. Unplug and plug the power on the Dlink seems to fix the problem - through the next morning a couple of days later.

The DSL status for this router:

ADSL Firmware Version: 5.00.04.00 - 5.00.03.00 - 5.00.03.00 Annex A - 01.07.2b - 0.52
ADSL Software Version: V3.00B01T01.TX.20060516

I had this problem too with the same router after joining Orcons new network.

Try updating the firmware, as V3.02B01T01.NZ.20080827 fixed the issue for me.    Been over a month and half with no drops.

I have a spare Linksys AM300 you can try if Steve's Belkin doesn't do the trick. Would need to use a seperate router with it though. They're pretty good. Got 3-400k higher sync rate than the Dlink & Dynalinks i tried, and far more stable on long line (had it on a 4.7k run). I'm not back in Wellington till the 8th tho.
