That's a very kind offer but I would prefer to have it shifted into the new position. The reason I wish to move the modem is that I intend to change the study into a bedroom and would prefer it to be clear and clean of all computer gear, the room is quite small and I intend to completely re-decorate.
Regards.
If he has cable (unless he's in Pegasus), fibre will be available.
I lived in Paraparaumu until the end of 2015 and fibre had just been installed alongside the old cable.
It would save you money to just get fibre installed with the ONT in the new office :)

I guess the $64m question then is whether Voda will do a new drop for you from the pole to the new location. As I recall the limit was 70m before it became quite expensive.
They will need to come out and do a signal test for you - as with everything eletrical distance is a factor - but rather than speculate here, call them and ask.
While you're at it though, it would be beneficial for you to consider putting ducting in for when you do choose fibre. You will be able to clarify the duct is your property and you give permission, it will make the chorus installers job an absolute breeze meaning they are more likely to be helpful to you, and it will be exactly as you want it.
Ideally two conduits in the ground with pull ties in them. I dont know your property, position of network and whats required, but an a method of 'whats the simplest and easiest thing for the installer to do' will go a long way.

Hi, just a final update on this, today I visited John the OP and moved the HFC feed to the bedroom to the garage, I should point out the ETP was not touched, no need, just recover the existing RG6 Tri from the bedroom and move it to the garage, there was at least 3m excess left over in the ceiling, just needed to put an approved linear crimp on the new end, run the new cat5e run to the lounge and done.
Had a great couple of hours chatting with John whilst doing the job, he has an interesting history in NZ's phone network, was neat to see him still engrossed in tech stuff and still tinkering with computers, a real geek!
Cheers Cyril

Do you need Internet in the house? If you do, leave the cable where it is, keep a router there and depending on the distance either use an ethernet cable from the router to a switch or access point or use a mesh solution (if the distance can be covered with WiFi).
Minimise the possibility of screw ups by not involving your ISP if possible.
