If you never changed the Netgears IP. Yes. That what was warned about - double-nated. (separate IP/range for anything connected to it and has no idea how to get past to the internet without explicit rules)

I see so that is what a double NAT situation is about.

So on the HG659 I had already reserved DHCP. 10 to. 19. While on the Netgear I had disabled DHCP and reserved. 20 to. 50. But it was when trying to change the Netgear IP from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.2 that it would refuse to because I was connected via WAN port and it would cause a conflict.

Should I disconnect the WAN then configure the netgear and then connect the LAN to LAN?
