$0.43 is a bargain! Spark charge $0.50. I just got charged the other day for sending one when imessage failed for some reason.

43 cents + GST is 50 cents

Absolutely no doubt there’s a cost to it. But you have to wonder how Kogan can offer unlimited MMS. And if there is such a large cost involved, then why do telcos still offer it - especially as I can imagine the amount of MMS messages sent lately would be a fraction of 15 years ago

Thanks, you saved me - I was just about to switch to Vodafone to get the deal.

Kogan will be making a loss on this and paying the wholesale provider (Vodafone) per MMS / PXT still

It is to attract new customers

I have worked with MMSC vendors and on the hardware and the carriers have ongoing licence costs, Power, Upgrades, Monthly vendor support costs, Staff ETC..............

Big $$$ per year to have a MMSC running

Yet it costs nothing other then part of your data to send the same image via messenger or other services. MMSC vendors need to catch up.

Hi Ichiu7,

Pxt are charged on a Vodafone mobile plan. You can check out the pxt rates via your My Vodafone account.

Thanks ^Jovi

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I know that. That is why I complained why is it being charged these days. A bunch of posts earlier talking about the infrastructure costs.

If it's a cost for MMSC then I do know Vodafone has implemented RCS which I do use but that's no good to sending to all the iPhone users out there.

I do send URL's to photo sharing sites since I assume everybody has some data plan but there is nothing like the immediacy of having the image appear in the message.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
