How is the onshoring process coming along? Last update from Jason (that I can recall) was some time ago.

If I did know what's happening behind the scenes, I likely wouldn't be able to talk about it.

That said - I do see a lot of new faces in the office here in Christchurch, especially in the later half of last year.

Oh I wasn't looking for top secret information, just a general update along the lines of what Jason has provided previously. I know things in progress were disrupted with coronavirus.

Thank you Nick, the gents from Downer have been and taken the cable down.

Its awesome that the community has people like you who are willing to help when the usual channels fail.

While great this is sorted, I must it's quite disappointing that this simply couldn't have been resolved via their call centre, which is the standard process for a standard request like this.

Just got back from a trip photographing around Arthurs pass and Christchurch and I see the cable is gone.

Thanks to Nick for his handling of this.

I have the same problem, I've tried calling One NZ and so has my wife.

We've both been given the answer of "You can contact a local technician to have it removed"

Are you able to help us @NickR1 ?

I think it's depressing to see that (almost) 4 years later their call centre is still getting this wrong 😳

I wouldn't say the CSR is getting it wrong, its more that their training/on hand information is incorrect/lacking.

I've worked at multiple service desks over the years, and not one has been able to give me a "complete" manual :D My first IT job at IHUG was amusing, I knew extremely little about Windows networking/dialup, as I came from an Amiga background, and there was no manual for anything :) I worked it out soon enough. Get the same request often enough, and someone finally puts it into a manual ;)

At one point I was given the Australian Telstra 1800 number to try. In the end the personal I was talking to said they couldn’t log a job because I’m not a current OneNZ customer, and I should contact a local electrician and have them remove the wires.

For sure, but that's not the end customer's problem - and if the rep doesn't know, they should ask rather than giving plain wrong information, which is clearly what happened here.

I suppose at least they didn't direct him to call Chorus 🙄

When my wife called, they suggested she call Chorus

Sigh. That's ridiculous.

Yet another case of them trying to (incorrectly) pass the buck 🙄

I wonder how many people just do the job themselves and cut the cable off because of poor service.

I can assure you I have in multiple situations on the Kapiti coast to cut unwanted Voda cable connections that the owners no longer want, typically getting a run around by contractors.

My advice, just do whatever disconnect action you need to do, because Voda/one will leave you hanging. I know that will be unadvised advise by some, but honestly these folk are so hard to get off your property if you ask them to do the task, it's ridiculous, just rip and go.
