Im going to see how the next couple of days go with speeds, if they stay around the same esp on offpeak time then I will be quitting the service.

You know they now have a disconnection fee?

$99 to get rid of xnet is better than paying for 3rd rate internet.

In the states I was getting a 10mb cable connection which actually preformed at 10mb; xnet barley preforms at 1mb.

I have been always saying to fellow forum members that if you're not happy, you do have the option of leaving...

Well, I myself, having hang out for so long, will do that finally....

It's not the line, cause speedtests are blazing along (Xnet's).  International-wise is still relatively ok in terms of speedtests...

Download-wise, peak times are fine---ish.
Torrents:  ~100KB/s
Download sites (eg: sendspace):  ~50KB/s

Off peak.....
Torrents:  ~10KB/s
Download sites:  ~5KB/s...

It really is too ridiculous!  A few posts back, speeds are throttled to ~120KB/s, which are acceptable....  Now???  So long..  Xnet!

This is odd.... all of a sudden my global download speed went from around 50-100kbps which it has been all day; it jumped to 500kbps and my webbrowsing speeds increased too.

Maybe they were having some problems today and have fixed it or is this a common occurance with this ISP??

The past week they've had issues with their usage monitor.  At the moment it is only 1 day behind, but it was like a week behind.  I suspect some customer logs got screwed up and they were being limited as if they have gone over their data cap (that would give you 64kbps = 8kBps max).  If that is the case then they must have sorted it today.

I am sure some will reply that they are having various issues lately (more like the past year), but there are many more people that are just happy with the service and find it suitable for their needs at the right price.  They have definitely had some issues and has gone down from what it was when I've joined almost 2 years ago, but there are things like paying only for the data you use and that VFX has many bells and whistles added free for which you have to pay when with any other telco provider.

Sultanoswing, they key is that it is suitable for many people's needs, else XNet would have closed down long ago or changed to a model that suits the minority.  People that are happy are not going to look at forums and post there, because they have no need to.  I enjoy these discussions and learning more, so I am looking here and posting good comments (just like some people enjoy reading thick novels, or some people like going to the movies).

Im happy for the first time since they placed the torrent users into a pool during off peak times...

On average i'm downloading  about 3 to 4 gigs a night and for the first time in months i may get to my 75gig free quota,
and having less time to download as well

It may have something to do with so many people leaving im not sure.

But i don't use torrents at all and download off Rapidshare, megaupload etc.

badassbaz, you are on the "Torrent plan"?

And you're downloading off peak, from megaupload, rapidshare, etc, and you manage to get 3/4GB a night???

I was doing the same (in fact, just tried that this early morning), and my speeds at about 6am were no more than 20KB/s!!!

Yip

Well to be honest i just use Megaupload, i have a premium account, I did have a rapidshare Account but as you may know they only have a 2.6gig a day download limit now and for some stupid reason when you download off peak on the torrent plan Rapidshare reakon you download nearly 3 times as much as you really did, so i wasn't getting my moneys worth Megaupload is unlimited

I was doing the same (in fact, just tried that this early morning), and my speeds at about 6am were no more than 20KB/s!!!

I use Internet Download Manager, download 12 things at once, each thing in 16 bits so 192 connections

Hope this helps
