Any ideas whether I need Windows to use the USB cable?  I have a mac...  And also, can you point me to good instructions on how to set up the phone as a modem, specifically for a Macbook Pro?   Thanks!

Sorry, can't help with this.  Maybe just try connecting it?  If Macs implement Bluetooth well, then try pairing your phone with the Macbook - the Bluetooth software should find the modem in the phone.

Good luck!

Rickles:

Now, if they would just make a phone that has a USB connection to my laptop .

R.

Most Motorolas have a USB port and can be connected to your PC as a modem. I've done this with the K3 and the v3x with good speeds (up to 1.5mbps0

The Vodafone 720 doesn't have a usb port, of course they made their own type of port just to be annoying BUT it comes with a cable that plugs into a usb port on your computer and it works quite nicely as a modem.

It turns out to be very easy - I found a discussion on another forum. For anybody else who needs to know, to connect a Nokia 6121 phone to a Macbook Pro via USB: Plug in the USB cable (and I then had to select "PC Suite" on my phone for some reason). In Network Preferences select the nokia phone option and then hit "advanced". Select Nokia, GSM (or something like that), and www.vodafone.net.nz. And it works! Now I need a plan before draining my account...

Further to the T-stick/laptop set up, apart from putting the SIM card into a phone and sending an SMS to "buy bblite", how would one set up the data account for the first time? I assume top-ups are done online?

Thanks,

R.

OK, can answer myself now. After logging in to the Vodafone site, the pay-as-you-go broadband inclusion and subsequent top-ups are tucked away in the Manage Add-ons sections.

Hope this helps others too,

R.
