Yeah, texts are deleted after 72 hours. Same for Telecom

So I can put my XT prepaid SIM away and pull it out in 5 years and it will still be alive with the credit it currently has on it? Nice.

johnr: You can port a 027 number to Vodafone prepay you can even do it online

That's my understanding, you can port any number to any network, prepay or post paid, it's your number, you can do what you like with it (till it gets taken off you as per the 365 day rule unfortunately!).

I've always hated off-net/on-net plans, I'm on mates rates and I avoid making calls to Voda as much as possible, but I think it's absolutely ridiculous. XT are onto something and I hope others follow suit, there should be no differentiation because your friends make a personal choice as to which network they go with based on what best suits their needs (except for the whole 'but I need 2000 texts' anti-XT argument, cos nobody really needs that many). Looking forward to getting my XT phone and ending all this on/off BS! ;-)

Yep you can do that, although not for 5 years on CDMA with Telecom staying the network will be operational until 2012 :)

They supposed to text you if your account is needing to be topped up.... but in this case it didn't.

incorrect

SMS would of gone out advising the prepay account is about to expire but the customer did not have the handset on so the SMS then expired cause the SMS could not be delivered in 3days

Telecom SMS expire in around the 72 hour mark as well (can someone confirm this)

If I recall correctly from my mobile service desk days yes.

Either that or 24 or 48 or something.

Lord can you imagine the network congestion if TXT messages did not expire if not received by the target cellphone ?

It was a nightmare enough when a customer's Push 2 Talk service was prevening text messages getting through! When that would happen corrupted text messages on their message queue would prevent valid text messages getting though. I would then have to tell them to turn off their phone , take the battery out , i'll knock your ESN off the network and clear your queue. Put the phone back together in 5 - 10 minutes and it should be right .....

Mmmm I'm wrong, there seems to be an expiry in the terms and conditions, now I want to run off and check. No sure how they plan on enforcing that tho....

By the way, just so you know...

Any top-up credit needs to be used within six months otherwise it will expire and you need to make sure you top up at least once every six months to avoid your Prepaid account being deactivated.
