excuse me but people can already watch channels like aljazeera live on it's website. other international channels have their own youtube so i don't really see this web tv service taking off.

youtube isn't live streaming though, normally you get the news uploaded a day later than the event.

Not everyone wants to frequent multiple different sites, nor suffer international speed issues, lack of local content, an inability for ad-funded (or partially funded) business models to exist, or the total absence of possibility of zero rated bandwidth.

PLENTY of room for a local provider, providing bitrates are decent, and bandwidth is zero rated.

Good catch. The interesting thing is that most telcos won't put ads on Geekzone because their media buyers think we already talk about them and their services.

Orcon is breaking ground and apparently are very happy with the results of their ads on Geekzone.

I don't know that TelstraClear would want to pass up on an easy 330MB (that's a big B for Bytes, Steve. Little b is for bits) per hour of usage. In fact, it's no doubt the exact reason they're vigorously advertising this service.

Would love to watch Good Bye Pork Pie tomorrow night but 330MB per hour is fairly hefty... that's 1.3 extra 250MB blocks per hour - $4 per hour. Could get more expensive than the DVD store for a long movie.

Is this multicast? Otherwise there's going to be a bit of network congestion!

You can fiddle some scripts to export the FLV or just simply download with general flash video apart from the RTMPE streamed video if you want to watch them overlaid n the other monitor, I should take a gawk at ZILN's internals. I also find the sound quality much nicer than most implementations of WindowsMedia.

I'm very much looking forward to the Goodbye Pork Pie special tomorrow!

It actually runs quite acceptably on my Big Time connection so no traffic worries here!
