I love them as well, SE (and Ericsson before that) have been the only company who had the brains to impliment BlueTooth properly unlike the poor attempts by Nokia.

I just wish they'd bring up some more 3G phones, the W800i is cool and the K750i rocks but the V600 is a bit of a lame 3G phone that lacks a memory slot. It would also be good of them to bring something out around the same form factor as the 6800 but running Symbian OS - the P8/9 series is still a bit bulky.

Does anybody happen to know when the W800i is being launched in NZ? They are struggling to keep up with demand here in the UK after only a week on the market.

I like em short & sharp, None of this 20 second melodic ding-a-ling just for a TXT!
The v800 is very "brlllidding" or "ping a ling a ding a dwing" "bi bi bi bing" and they aren't very loud either sadly, i'd love a simple beep! :-(

the only thing I can't figure out is why some manufacturers persist in burying tiny speakers deep in the middle within the phones body that have to try and push the sound up through a groove in the circuit board and out of a tiny hole at the top, of course, dampening the sound totally!

Sony Ericsson are usually pretty good about loud, clear ringers though, The only dissapointment was the t68i. Nokia took till mid this year to even get past the 4 note polyphony stage! yeeew.

I think sony ericsson handsets are very good and they are a leading pioneer of bluetooth integration.

In response to some above comments, no successor to the p910i has been announced but speculation exists. UMTS would be nice, it'll possibly run Symbian UIQ 3.0 and apparently as a result not have a keypad. The P910 is triband GSM and the P910a caters for the US with 850MHz replacing possibly the 900MHz frequency.
The S710a is an amercian targeted version of the SE S700i it has 850MHz (again possibly instead of the 900 band) and a similar feature set as the s700 except EDGE data capability and possibly the sacrifice of a FM radio (off the top of my head) both handsets have a large screen, swivel design and a 1.3mp camera. The S700 is available on Vodafone in NZ.

The K750 indeed allows custom message tones but it is a newer handset than the V800 so that may explain the discrepiancy. The v600 however has only just been released recently (and its k600 variant) and someone may be interested in establishing whether it can have custom message tones like the k750i. A pity it doesnt have a mem stick duo pro slot though.

If you are looking for a bargain non 3g handset the K700 is going for about 399 from vodafone (i believe its being phased out) and Geekzone did a review a while ago also.

Ericsson (not Sony Ericsson) actually developed the original Bluetooth specifications, and both Ericsson and Sony Ericsson implementations are the best Bluetooth on mobile phones I've seen.

i used to feel that way about nokia - but something changed. The nokia's started to have too many features, without updating their menu systems. they became cluttered and it now takes time to to what you want to do on a nokia now.

the first few ericssons i've used had great intuitive UI, but they seem to have cut costs with a too slow processor - the response from simple things like typing a letter was too slow on my T39 - i could be 10 wordsahead of what had appeared on the screen - too slow.

Ericsson appeared to be dying - it seems they had forgotten how to make sexy phones until sony came along.

These day the SE phones seem to be released in pairs of similar models, one with a slightly too slow processor/UI response, and another more expensive model with a much faster processor. compare the 2 SE voda 3g phones.

I have a K700i, great phone but I cant install MP3's as ringtones :-(

What is the deal with unbranding? Does this remove Vodafone restrictions on the phone? Is it safe,legal?... and how do you do it? :-)

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.
